do the same thing over and over, just in a different way? They have a signature style that carries over to a lot of their pages.
I was watching Two Peas videos today and I watched a few and then I was like, "No...that's similar to the other one I just watched by her." So I went on and it was the same thing again, only different designer.
So I realized that's something I have kind of beat myself up about in the past but in reality, it might be the thing that makes people get noticed!
CONSISTENCY!
What do you think? How about your personal style? Do you stick to kind of the same techniques and look again and again?
PS: In other news, I've been in the bed with a stomach virus for two days and while I was watching the videos it kind of just depressed me because I was too sick to go make anything and I really wanted to be scrapping while I watching them. Videos are so inspiring!

I think each of us after awhile develops a signature style. I do like to mix it up, but my style would be 2 page layouts with more than just 2 or 3 photos. I like to scrap events or themes so I never just have one photo to put on a page. I like to flip through my albums and see my different techniques and designs, so my layouts don't really look the same.

I think I have a style - not sure what it is, but I see similarities in my layouts.
Tracie, Sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope today is better.

Feel better soon, Tracie!
Though I've seen some changes over time, basically my pages have a similar style. I scrap with 4x6 photos, and only have a few basic ways of arranging them. Embellishments will either be on a diagonal or in 3 groups. Every once in a while I will purposely play around and try something new. It's nice to have a bit of variety.

I think you're on to something!
You would think that I would have a signature style after 20 years but I like to try new things.
Hope you feel better soon!

Hope you feel better soon Tracie!
Maybe the key to 'success' is learning to embrace my own style and stop trying to do something different every time. Good point!

I agree, which is why I can't binge watch videos by the same designer. For example I adore all of Jen Gallachers pages but I get 'meh' when I see more than a couple of videos after each other.
Personally I do have a style (layering, lots of embellishments) but I get bored and like to add something different into the mix. Also, when I CT'd for digital stores I had to work with lots of different designer products, so I had to be a bit flexible in how I approached my layouts and become more comfortable with different products and different styles accordingly.
Oh and yes, I think that a 'style' for the well known scrapbookers is probably a good thing in terms of them being picked to be on a manufacturer's DT. They need to know that a DT member is going to be consistent in creating pages for the manufacturer in a way that is attention grabbing and appeals to their customer base.

Hope you are better! Things rings true for me. I think it makes me able to do a lot of pages in a short period of time. If I want to shake things up, I have to turn to scraplifting.

Tracie, sorry you're under the weather - hope you're up-and-at'-'em today! My "style" has changed so much over the years, depending on current supplies or what scrapbookers I followed on 2Peas. I used to do a lot more tearing of paper, not so much anymore. Some of my earlier work (way earlier) looked more linear, now I'm trying not to do that; I like things just a little (or a lot) off-kilter, just like in Life. Maria

I think some things are consistent for me, but I find it difficult to label my style for some reason. Sometimes I'm clean and simple, sometimes more layered and embellished. It's a good question, but I'm not sure my answer is "yes" and maybe that's why I'm not a designer!

Yes, the garden girls on two peas definitely had signature styles. I could look through the video home pages and guess who made the video just by looking at the layout. I don't think my style is nearly as evident in general, but in a short period of time it is. For example, in the past six months, all of my layouts have had a lot of layering. But that's not necessarily as true a year ago--some layouts looked like that, but not all.

I definitely think I have a style. I am a very clean and linear scrapper. This weekend I made a page with one picture tilted and that was a big stretch for me!

You are so right about videos. I love them. I have a Roku so I can watch you tube videos on my big tv. It's so neat. I too have noticed how so many designers have a "look" for which they are known. I have nothing of the sort. One day I like super simple and graphic and the next day I love vintage, artsy layers. Scrapbooking layouts gives me a chance to try things so maybe that's my style...anything goes:)
Glad you're feeling better Tracie!

I think it is kinda like handwriting. You come to recognize it. Like also in art and other things. I was at the high school and could tell my daughters work (art) without having ever saw it before. All on display were the same project/subject but I spotted hers immediately. Scrapbooking can be the same, I think. All have "signatures" that you come to recognize.

I definitely know what you mean! I am drawn to certain designers and I can pick their style out over others. I think most people have a style, I know I for sure do!

My daughter tells me all the time my pages look the same. Imma go with having a signature style. But yes, I have noticed this. I think that may be why I am drawn to projects by certain people.

Not only do I think scrapbookers have a signature style, I think some designers are TOO married to their style. There are only so many "white background/1 small photo layered cluster" LOs I can take. That's why I've come to admire some designers more than others: people like Kelli Crowe, Lisa Dickinson, Geraldine Sy, Nicole Magouirk, who change things up so much from layout to layout and yet I can still identify their style. Who use shape and colour and die cuts in ways I'd never imagine! I too have some "recipe" style LOs (3 4x6 photos only fit 2 ways on the page after all ) and it's always quicker to scrap those recipes because there are fewer creative choices. It just doesn't stretch me as much. And I agree with Shimelle that you can re-use the designs as long as they aren't side by side in your album, because the details and colours will change. But I think I get stagnant creatively when I do that too much! Kirsten

I agree. I think designers layouts/pages look the same after awhile too. This is why I strive to mix it up and try new things. And I love using sketches and looking for fun new ideas on Pinterest. I am not a one photo on a page with a bunch of other stuff kind of person. Can't do it! And I am a 2 page layout person most of the time. Right now I would give anything to scrap and guess what...I even have all the time in the world! But I can't! We just moved to Germany and I am stuck in a hotel room at the moment with not a lot to do! AND to make it even worse, our first shipment of stuff which I put a little bit of everything in so I could scrap, is here! But I can't get to it. Soon. First things first. Find a house. Which I think we did yesterday! So glad I found this bored, it's filling some of my time and making me happy.

i too have a signature style....linear, 4x6 photos, inking of the edges, matting, embellies and a lot of layering. However, I do like to try new things so I'll incorporate new with my style. I started using sketches in the last year and that helps me with design

My Style is I have no style. You could put my LOs side by side and not know they were done by the same person. Im'm constantly changing and evolving in my scrapping. I even use very different elements and materials depending on the story I want to convey in my LOs. I have notice many Designers' LOs have the same system in place and that's why I've actively searched for Artist who shake it up. I've found some really cool scrapbookers recently that I just love. Check out Gabrielle Pollacco she's amazingly talented and versatile www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD4jJ2R8sEY

I think you are so right that whether we realize it or not, we all have a style that in someway we repeat. Years ago I scrapbooked the same way....matted pictures and stickers. Now my scrapbooking has evolved to layers and lots of embellies. So my pages looked a little different because I use different papers and embellies. I try to change it up, but my pages do seem to have a similar look. Usually to get them different I have to look for ideas or use a sketch.
I was thinking about Glitter Girl. I think you could almost look at her LOs and pick hers out. Yea they are different, but yet she has a signature style all her own.
