DH and I are headed to Napa and SF this weekend. We've got the Napa Valley part of our trip all planned out but we're kind of winging the SF part since we've been there a few times.
So Bay Area peas, what are some things that we shouldn't miss in SF? We've done touristy things but I'm looking for off the beaten path restaurants and things to see.
Suggestions?

Great that you are coming to San Francisco ! What kinds of things do you like to do? Also, what touristy places have you gone to? What about museums, beaches ( you know the water is cold now) , and other interests that you have? There are TONS of restaurants in San Francisco , many are excellent. Tell us what kind of food you like?

Tell us what kind of food you like? We'll only have about 24-36 hours so we'll probably skip the museums and explore more of the neighborhoods. We've been to the Wharf, Chinatown, North Beach, Union Square. As far as restaurants, we're open to pretty much anything. I've been on Yelp and done some searching but it's always nice to get recommendations from "real" people!

I was there recently and had the BEST breakfast at the Hollywood Cafe. Not sure on the address but it was right by Pier 39 and by our Sheraton hotel. We ate there 2 days in a row and I'm still dreaming about it. Soooo good!

I've done a couple of Gourmet Walks Food Tours and they are a great way to get out into neighborhoods. The walking is not strenuous and the food tasting is perfect for lunch. We did the Hayes Valley and Japantown/Filmore tours. The NoPa/Alamo Square and Russian Hill tours have been added since my last trip.

We love food so a food tour might be really fun!

My iPad froze up. I'll say go to Sams Chowder House in half Moin Bay. The place is very popular so get a reservation, maybe for a week day. Incredible chowder salads with crab, and it's fun!check out their website. The drive on highway one is very nice. Don't go on highway 92! Come across the bay to Berkeley and enjoy Fourth Street. Shopping is fun ( Castles in the Air for example) and you can either eat at Bettes Diner or Zut. Reservations recommended. Easy off the freeway. Go mid day and stay to see the new Bay Bridge lights, hopefully with an awesome sunset! We have had foggy days but today is clear in the morning. I could go on and on!

These are pretty, but if you're a tourist it's unlikely that you will be near this area. It's very residential. If you want a chance to eat at a top restaurant and don't have a reservation, get the app called Table 8. They have last minute reservations at a limited number of highly rated restaurants.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago. For food, we loved dinner at Coqueta and Tacolicious. For pastries, Mr. Holmes Bakehouse was amazing...but be prepared to stand in line. For breakfast, our favorites were Brenda's French Soul Food and Dottie's True Blue Cafe.
Since we had so little time, we did one of the hop on/hop off bus tours to cover lots of ground. The view of the city from the observation deck at the De Young Museum (in Golden Gate Park) is beautiful. It is also free if you are just doing the observation deck, not the museum. We also walked the path from the pier/warming hut at the base the Golden Gate bridge up to the overlook. It was a gorgeous walk!

www.sfchronicle.com/food/top-100-2015/ places to eat. I haven't been to the mentioned eating places..as I live on the other side of town. we have a good Burmese place out on California(by 5th or 6th), PPQ at 19th ave and Irving is very very good vietnamese...Okazuka Taravel...on 26th and Taravel is very good japanese. or you could just walk up and down clement street between 2nd and 10th and you will find many good places to eat of all types. or fillmore between pine and clay...

Wok Wiz walking tour of Chinatown, including a dim sum lunch. I've been on it twice, once about 10 years ago and a second time about 5 years ago. Totally recommend it! Check out their reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor.

If you find yourself in the Russian Hill area, you must check out Loving Cup. We were in SF last summer and rented a house just around the corner from this place. We walked there every night, and I still fantasize about the rice pudding-- it's that good. The yogurt is good, too. In general, there's a nice vibe there and the employees are nice--they recognized us as 'regulars' for the week that we were there, and that's a nice feeling.
