to avoid conflict with the diners?
I used to quickly dump leftover soup into a pan to heat up on the stove, because the kids didn't like 'leftovers'.
I'd be all "OH yeah, I just made this..."

Not exactly but I hide ingredients that people keep using up and putting the empty bottle away like we still have the item. For example I always have a bottle of vanilla hidden away. DD keeps making some sort of cake /brownie in a mug and uses it up and puts the empty back.
DS went to make something and he's like Awww the vanilla is empty , I'm like yea I know I have o e hidden.

I did at Christmas when I made a crockpot mac & cheese that included a can of cheddar soup. DS1 is adamant about not eating processed (process?) cheese so I had to quickly hide the can. And he loved the mac & cheese. Sucker.

All the time.
Once I made a brownie recipe that used white beans. You'd better believe that I didn't tell anyone and I hid the can. They turned out okay, and everyone ate them. Not the best brownies I've made, but I didn't get any complaints about the beans part.
DS hates mustard, but he has no idea that a couple of his favorite foods have mustard hidden in the ingredients.

If I buy crackers I will hide half of the boxes, otherwise we won't have crackers for most of the week because the kids will eat them all the first two days after I go shopping... same thing with cereal.

I put butter in my refried beans and my husband can never figure out why mine are so much better than his.

I hid my pop tarts because dh will polish off the whole box before I get one I can't think of ingredients I hide within foods. dd is a pretty good eater. She doesn't like bell peppers, but she knows I like to cook with them so she just moves them to the side of her plate.

My dd would have a friend who would have dinner with us. The friend was pickier than a pea. I would blend up all the veggies we were having into spaghetti sauce. I swear the friend would like the plate.
Her mother got pissed at me because I was "lying" to the girl. Wth? The girl never came over again , and shortly after that she was no longer friends with dd.
It's okay , the girl is not missed.
