At the Scrapbook Expo this year, I bought the Heartfelt Creations Blazing Poppy die and matching stamp. The flowers on display were gorgeous, and they got different looks with the stamp & die set.
My first results did NOT look like the samples, but now I am finally getting flowers that I am happy with.
I want to use them in cards and scrapbook pages, but they are far too bulky! The card or layout won't fit in an envelope or a page protector if I use these flowers on cards or pages.
Would you send a card with bulky flowers in a box instead of an envelope then?
How do you use bulky 3D flowers on a page if it's going into an album? Wouldn't it just smash the flower and ruin it? Or do you just put those lumpy pages in a 12x12 shadow box and display it as a home decor item? Or am I just being dense and you just don't use these flowers on cards or layouts?

Yes, I do send cards with bulky embellishments in boxes. You can also use those flowers to make cute little storage boxes for use in your craft room. Home Dec, I guess everyone would refer to it as.
I don't use them for layouts much, and yes I think they would smash. Some manufacturer needs to come up with a page protector with a bit of depth for those highly embellished pages - don't you think. Maybe visit Prima DT blogs and see what they do, as those pages are usually pretty bulky.
Glad your flowers came out like you wanted them to, I still struggle with flower making, and am hoping practice will make perfect (or approach perfect anyway), that is if I ever find the time to sit and practice.

I learned the hard way over the years that 3d flowers do smash in albums. I've been prying up 3d flowers now from my older pages and replacing them with flatter versions. I now make framed/shadow box layouts or canvases when I want to use the bulky flowers.
For cards. I've been using less 3d flowers lately - layered, thick cards still, but now a fully formed flower, but when I do want to use a beautiful full flower like made with my Heartfelt Creations (love those) or Primas, I will send them in a box. Some cards are worth it, some people are worth it.
Flower making is "my thing" - I sometimes make them for no reason at all. I use my flowers on altered items, fronts of minis, home decor, and gift packaging.

My sister just had surgery, so I wanted to send her a card with the 3D flowers. She has an amazing garden and would love them. Guess I need to get a box for any card I make for her.
I have never really been into flower making, due to the time it took. These flowers are kind of addicting, though, despite the fact that they take longer to make than the layered flowers I have tried to make before. I can see myself just sitting and making the flowers while I watch TV, and then I would have them ready to add to a project. I will probably use them most for treat boxes and home decor items, but they are so pretty, they would look gorgeous on a layout.
For anyone who struggles with making the 3D flowers, Heartfelt Creations has video tutorials on YouTube, and there are other people with video tutorials on making 3D flowers, too. That is how I finally got the hang of making them. I had to watch the HC Blazing Poppy video about 7 times, though, because I didn't pick up on some of what she was saying (like using about five of the same sized flower pieces), and a couple of times the video was on her face instead of what she was showing, which I found annoying.

Scrapnnana, I took three Heartfelt Creations card classes last weekend. I loved them. Someone suggested mailing these flower cards in bubble envelopes. I've never tried this. Does anyone know if they make these bubble envelopes in colors?

I use lots of 3D embellishments on my pages. I can only fit one page in a page protector, and my albums do not hold a lot of pages but I am fine with that. It's how I like to design.

I think the Heartfelt Creations flowers are so pretty. Your sister is going to love what you created for her.

I'm wanting to get a stamp and coordinating die to make the flowers. I've watched some Youtube videos and get how they're shaped and assembled. I may take a class at CKC in August first though. I know you can make the flowers as dimensional as you want, depending on how many layers you use and how you shape them. I'd use the very bulky ones on altered projects and decorative items and stick to the flatter versions for cards and layouts. But mailing a card in a box or bubble mailer would work too.
Maybe instead of sending a card with the flowers in an envelope, put it in a drawstring bag or wrap it in pretty tissue, and mail it in a box like you'd mail DVDs in?

I now have various sets of the dies and matching stamps for making 3D flowers. The YouTube videos helped a lot. I don't have access to CKC, and the one class that I took at Scrapbook Expo was a layout, with flowers that were not as dimensional. Next time I have a chance, I will go for the card making class, which has more dimensional flowers.
I like the suggestions for shipping, but I think I will get a small priority mail box, line the inside with patterned paper, and send it that way. A friend send a birthday gift that way to me, and I loved it.
I am still working on the card. I am working to get my house ready for sale, so I haven't had a ton of time to devote to card making. I hope I get it sent before she is completely recovered from her surgery.
