It has been years since I made a bound, professionally printed photo book (of my own digital layouts, not using a printing service's templates).
I'm a little bit lost as to which service to use. I guess the big names are Adoramapix, Shutterfly, Persnickety Prints, and....? I've found some online reviews of various services, but they seem to be several years old. I'm looking for reviews and opinions (the good, the bad, and the ugly) that are somewhat more current.
Is there a service you would recommend? a service you would not recommend? Feedback greatly appreciated.

I love Shutterfly. I have made several books and have been very happy. I like when I recognize the "paper" from a collection I have used before. Their software is very user friendly. They also allow you to upload your photos and they will store them...with no limit. I am in the process of uploading all my digital pics there as a backup. Also, they always have coupon codes for discounts.

I've used ArtsCow.
The pros - cheap shipping, cheap photo books, often have sales for further discounts/free books/free shipping, fast postage, books packed safely (in layered foam around the book.
The cons - the images can sometimes be a little dark, printed and shipped from Hong Kong (about 2 weeks transit for me in Australia).
I find the paper to be of quite acceptable quality but if you like a super thick paper you may not like their finish. That said they have plenty of sales so it would be reasonably inexpensive to do a trial print job.
