We're driving from Florida to the Smokies for some hiking/outdoor things.
We also want to head to another place. We will be staying in Sevierville so will do the Gatlinburg/Sevierville/Pigeon Forge area.
Thinking of Asheville (which is really close to the Smokies) or maybe Myrtle Beach. I haven't been to Myrtle Beach since before they were born so I'm not sure what to expect. Any other places that might be within a day's ride from the Smokies to go for a few days that they might like?
Thanks!

While your in the Smokies you must go to Cade's Cove. Beautiful place with good history. Best time to go is early morning where you can sometimes see deer and bears out and about. There is also a road that takes you to Cherokee, NC. At the top of the mountain is a great lookout. Asheville wouldn't be terribly far.

I highly recommend Asheville. Have you done Biltmore Estate yet? We have season passes and just drive over for lunch, to walk the grounds, etc. It's only an hour from us. Have fun!

I'd pick Asheville over Myrtle Beach any day. Asheville is lovely with quite a lot to see and do.
If you want the coast, consider either Charleston or Savannah if you have not been there. Lots of history in the cities and beautiful beaches nearby.
