I haunt the aisles of TM on Thursdays and Friday after shipments. They always have great paper packs for $2.99- 25 sheets. The other day I was there and I had three Hollow packs picked out and was trying to figure out what I could make with six different prints. They were mostly black and cream. I also had 10 packs shoved under some other product because I had figured out those layouts. This lady with a cart blows by and grabs the paper and just smiles and says, "I love Halloween!" and flew past. I am not usually someone to stand there and not say something, but I just let it go. I had to commend her for her large balls. Who does that? I told myself that I didn't love paper and she was helping me get off cheaper. I went to another TM the following day and found 4 packs of Hallow that had more color and I saw the layout in my head immediately. I figured someone upstairs was rewarding me for my patience.
For those of you that buy the $2.99 packs, what do you do with the extra? I make kits so I use it all, but haven't run into another person who buys the 25 packs.

I don't buy them unless they're something neutral that I will use on lots of different layouts. Every now and then I've gotten lucky with some random packs that have a variety. I've picked up some Graphic45 and Cosmo Cricket that way. Those paper packs seem to fly off the shelf, so someone is putting them to good use. i can't believe the nerve of someone snatching paper as you looked at it. What do you do with your kits, 950nancy?

I occasionally buy the 25 packs of patterned paper, but usually for the "b" side. I can't get enough gingham checks or tiny dotted papers I have also purchased one for the vanilla colored b side instead of buying cardstock. OP - You were definitely rewarded for you patience with that rude woman. I bet she swipes things out of people's carts, too!

I'm confused. Did she take the paper pack out of your hand or did she take the packs you had "shoved under some other product"? Were they shoved under other product in your cart or on the shelf? If they were on the shelf, how was she to know they were yours?

I am confused too. Where was the paper when she grabbed it?

I'm confused. Did she take the paper pack out of your hand or did she take the packs you had "shoved under some other product"? Were they shoved under other product in your cart or on the shelf? If they were on the shelf, how was she to know they were yours? I had the ones I wanted for sure hidden under the other product. I knew I wanted them. Then I had these three packs sitting on top of the other papers that sit vertically. I had them directly in front of me and was looking at them trying to imagine what to do with the pages. They were waist level and my hands were not quite touching them. I was leaning over them. All of the other papers were stacked a different direction. I had them slightly spread out to see all three designs. She literally wound her arm around me and grabbed the three of them. There was just no way she didn't think I was looking at them. However, no they were not in my hands. I was totally taken aback and said nothing. Now it seems funny and ballsy, but at the time I was like whaaaaaat? In the future I am going to grab a basket. It is probably the best way to mark your territory.

Well, I might have been that lady in those circumstances. Our TM shelves don't make a lot of sense. They tend to pile things where they fit, so the whole thing is a Easter egg hunt for me. I look under and through every stack for that reason. I would have assumed I'd just found a treasure.

I think what she did was kinda ballsy, too, or at least rude-- I would have at least asked 'are these yours?' before I grabbed them, if it was obvious you were looking at them.
When I go, I avoid stuff like that happening, though- I do my 'thrift store shopping' trick at TM, as well-- I get a cart, put everything I might want into the cart, go through it at my leisure to decide whether I really need / want it or not, and put what I don't want back onto the shelf.
I buy the 25-sheet packs every once in a while if they have a neutral B-sid. I have also bought some for heavier weight 'scratch' paper to practice Silhouette cuts with, and I'm also in the process of working out mini-book pages with fancy flips, etc. and will use those to practice my cutting and folding...

I have bought some of the 25 packs but I have stopped because I just don't have the room for them and I should use some more of what I have. I did buy several Chatterbox packs (different patterns)when they had them. I adore Chatterbox and was surprised when I found them. They must have been in a warehouse for several years before finding their way to TM.
I use the packs for layouts, cards, envelopes, test cuts and to give to my girls when they want to play with mom's paper. I don't feel bad when the play with the pack paper.

I have bought a few packs of paper. Now I cut the paper into 6x6 squares and I make treat bags for when I send off my Pocket Letters.

I look under and through every stack for that reason. I would have assumed I'd just found a treasure. Like I said, the whole thing was a little weird. I guess I haven't ever moved my arms around someone to get to something. I have stood behind or beside someone in a stalkerish way though. I just wait until they aren't on top of the product. Easter egg hunt is a perfect way to describe it some days. Our TM just started putting the stacks in two neat rows so you can see everything at hip level. I like that much better.

unless, they are nestled safely in someone's arms, they are almost free game. I am the one who rifles through the paper packs for hidden treasures. on the flip side, I've learned that hiding something for later doesn't work. SB women are clever and on the ball. LOL

Wow, that was rude of her.
I always grab a basket, and put ALL possible purchases in my basket, then weed out as I decide. Grabby customers are less likely to grab out of a basket than a shelf, or so I hope.

I agree with the basket. I was planning a kit with the packs and had them right in front of me semi spread out. Usually I put them on the floor and spread out. No one has ever taken them from me on the floor. My TM usually isn't busy and I don't have competition. I also thought it was weird that after she reached around and took them she told me she really liked Halloween. But like I said, I found much better Halloween papers at my other store and I was actually happy she grabbed them.
I do love George Carlin. I guess it takes all kind of people.
