I think I still have my banana clip around here somewhere. I didn't wear it much because it didn't fasten well since I have an ungodly amount of hair.

This made me laugh. It's true, the peas probably could pull it off. But we shouldn't. Banana clips are fug.

I looked HAWT with a banana clip. Hot, I tell you. The smoothed back, but a big fan behind my head looked really nice. Stop laughing- I'm being totally serious! So I would actually get on that bandwagon. I'd have to put curlers in my hair I guess, I'm not going to get another spiral perm, lol. But I have virtually the same all one length hair long I had then so it would work. Oh yes of course, I should have mentioned in my other post that at the time I also had a spiral perm. Man I loved my spiral perm! And with the banana clip it just topped it right off. We should compare photos from those days. This is perfect nostalgia. I'm going to buy a banana clip AND go skating! Thanks for planning my weekend! I so wish we were neighbours - I'd totally be there with you at the skating rink. WITH my banana clip! But sadly no perm.

OMG. I LOVED my banana clip back in the 80s. I was also rocking a perm so it stayed in my hair. Sadly, no perm and my hair is so stick straight it would slide right out. But I will support you!

I was at the roller skating rink earlier this week with my kids and a lady in her 50's and her DH (i think) came in to skate, she caught my eye because she was wearing a banana clip in her hair blast from the past! This is perfect nostalgia. I'm going to buy a banana clip AND go skating! Thanks for planning my weekend! You're welcome! The thing that was extra cool, was, she was a great skater! both she and her husband were good skaters now. I was imagining them being the cool kids on the skating rink 30 years ago. <3

yes, yes, yes!!!! ROFL! I have a friend on FB, new mom, early 30's (and a tad hipster), saying she was bringing it back. I was like, "you go, girl!"

I rocked the banana clip back in the day, too, and I still have a couple I use daily now! I don't wear them out, but a banana clip works great to pull back my hair to wash my face or apply makeup. I also use it after I curl my hair, but I'm still getting ready in the mornings: making the bed, packing lunches, whatever. It's the only thing I can pull my long hair back with that doesn't ruin the curls / style when I take it back down. In our first RV trip i forgot to pack my banana clip and was ready to run to the store and by another one! Now I have one in the RV so I don't forget! ?

Ya know, I'm gonna buy some just for this reason. I can't believe I never thought of it! I do my make-up first, while my hair is still in a towel because when I pull it back in a pony tail, it pulls the curl out. And sometimes, by the time I'm done, my hair is too dry to style my bangs. Gonna get me a banana clip! And fwiw, I rocked them in the 80's (had them in a bunch of colors to match my outfits) and am all for bringin' 'em back as a fashion statement!

I can still feel them, gathering all my hair and coming them upward, and click! I was styling. Now I want one too! AussieMeg and kelly316 I will go roller skating with you, too! If you'll have me. Promise I'll wear a banana clip proudly.

The last time I wore one was on my wedding day. I have naturally wavy hair (curly in spots, straighter in others). I wanted my hair up, but couldn't afford to have my hair done, so I did it myself with the banana clip and slapped on my veil headband. It looked so pretty. Even now, I look at the pics and still like my hairdo. Would I ever admit it was a banana clip? Oops, I just did!
Sure, I'm on board. Let's do it!
BTW, I was married in 1997.

My hair is much too thick. The end would pop open about 30 seconds after I put a banana clip in!

I'll rock one. I have super thick hair though so I broke more than I ever wore. However, my hair is not permed to the point of being shoulder width anymore so I bet I could get it in. Let's do it.
I did see them at Ulta the other day.

I could not pull off the look. Even with permed hair, I didn't have enough.

If you're looking for things similar to classic banana combs but have a hard time with them staying in, you might try the products here: HairZing. I'm not affiliated, but I'm a happy customer. I have very fine, not-quite-shoulder length hair, and their regular combs (I haven't tried the bananas) hold very well in my hair. I *love* being able to put my hair up in the summer without having it long!
