Hi there! As I'm purging & reorganizing my studio, I'm wondering how you organize your embellishments: – BUTTONS? By color? All together? – SEQUINS? In a jar? Box? Drawer?... – WOODDEN EMBELLIES? In its own package? In a drawer all together? Themed? – BLING, ENAMEL DOTS, CHARMS, BRADS, OTHER bits and bobs, etc? Thanks for sharing

I am an "out-of-sight, out-of-mind" type person so I try, if at all possible, not to store anything in a drawer, or otherwise tucked away because if I do, then it doesn't get used. For a long time I've had clear jars full of bits, bobbles, and doodads on the shelf above my scrapping table. I organize by color because when I'm scrapping I don't necessarily think "I need a button here", what I think is "I need a splash of yellow here", whether that be a button, a sequin, or some other yellow embellishment. I also love clear plastic shoe-box sized boxes to store bigger items like wooden embellishments, chipboard, etc. These are all on a bookshelf next to my scrapping table so easily seen/accessed. I use my label maker to the front of the box for easy reference (but really, the label is not really needed... the boxes are clear so I can see quickly what's in each one). My favorite, favorite, FAVORITE organization tool is my Raskog cart from Ikea ( Raskog Cart ). I have several small baskets in the top bin that hold lots of bling, bits, bobbles and doodads. The second shelf has all my card making supplies (I don't make a lot of cards so don't need a lot of space to hold them) and the bottom has mini albums in various stages of completion. I love this cart because I scrap at a tall table, usually standing up, and this cart gets pulled wherever I am. I'm loving the Raskog cart so much more than my clear jars and clear boxes because I can just toss items back in to the baskets as opposed to unscrewing jar lids or opening up boxes. If I had room, I'd get another cart and get rid of the jars and boxes but I have a cozy scrapbook room so no space for two! Edited to add: Hmmmm, apparently I don't know how to create a link because the "Raskog Cart" link just goes back to this page. Anyway, google Ikea Raskog Cart and you'll see my aqua cart!

I like to see what I have.
I have a plastic jar with lid that holds all my sequins. Would probably give someone with OCD a heart attack, but works well for me.
When I am scrapping, I tend to spread out all my embellies (I don't have a space, so I have to drag it all out each time, then put it away).

My buttons are all in an old vintage lidded jar which sits on my desk. They are all jumbled in together so if I'm looking for a particular type or size of button I usually have to tip them out to sort through them. I don't use buttons often although I'm not sure if this is the main reason.
Sequins are in a small container that I keep stashed in a drawer. Again I don't use these often (and I don't have a big stash of them) but it's easy enough to tip out if I'm looking for a particular colour.
My wood veneer is half sorted in mini pie tins. So I keep all my hearts in one tin, all my stars in another, and a third tin holds lots of random bits (cameras, arrows, word bits). They are stored in the same drawer as my brads and enamel dots.
Brads are sorted by colour in small plastic containers. Enamel dots are still in the packaging thrown in the same drawer. I don't have many packs (maybe half a dozen) so it's easier to just grab the whole pile to find the colour I want. Rhinestones and pearls are stored the same way.

NOT EFFECTIVELY!!! Let's just say I don't do a good job of it at all. I had my buttons in my tool drawer. Then they got moved to a Rubbermaid Tote. They are somewhere else now. I saw some enamel dots last night/this morning in the tote. (The tote with the clear stamps and other "stuff" but it is a stamp tote).
Oh help me! I need someone to organize my supplies for me. Today!

I keep my buttons is jars sorted by colors. The most popular colors are on their own (like white or tan), but the rest are sorted green/orange, pink/purple, red/yellow. I make sure the two colors are contrasting enough to find the other color easily.
Sequins are in little zip bags in a small apothecary chest. I have them all in one drawer--the sequin drawer!
I don't have many wooden embellishments, so those are with my other 3-D embellishments in a couple of Jetmaxx drawers, sorted by theme.

I bought several of those cheap jewelry box organizers for a dollar, you know the one with all the square spots in it?
I have one for reds, one for orange/yellow, green/blue, pink/purple, white/clear, and gray/black/brown. I have those boxes stacked on my shelf next to my table, and if I start to run out of room in one of the boxes I will get more and have single colors each. If I still run out of room, I guess it means I have too many embellies? lol!
I hope that made sense!

– BUTTONS? By color? All together? – SEQUINS? In a jar? Box? Drawer?... – WOODDEN EMBELLIES? In its own package? In a drawer all together? Themed? – BLING, ENAMEL DOTS, CHARMS, BRADS, OTHER bits and bobs, etc? Buttons I do two ways. I have a bunch of clear Art Bin bead organizers with slide off lids and the thinner ones for scrapping are stored in them sorted by color. The chunkier and bigger ones for sewing are all in a big jar mixed together. Sequins are a jumbled up mess. Some are still in their packages in a drawer, some are by color in flip top Tic Tac type containers (also usually used for beads) in clear organizers. Wooden: I never really got on the veneer bandwagon like many people did so I don't really have any of this kind of thing other than maybe a few buttons. Bling is also in need of a better system. Some is hanging on a Clip It Up, some is sorted into my themed bins with other stuff that I bought to use it with for specific projects that I haven't had time to work on yet. Once I do the project I bought them for, the rest could go on the Clip It Up or I might think of something else entirely. That's the kind of thing I need to see out or I won't think to use it. I'm the opposite of deekaye with how I work on stuff. I usually think in terms of "I need a button/brad/sequin" vs. just looking for something in a particular color but could be anything. I'm also not a "digger", I don't like having random things in bowls or jars that I have to pick through to find what I want. I like to go right to the specific thing I want without having to spend a lot of time searching through stuff I don't need to get to the one thing I do need, if that makes any sense.

My buttons are by color in small, clear containers. I only have a tiny ziploc bag of sequins. I never know what to do with them!
My enamel dots stand up in a basket that I can just grab and flip through. I may have a package of every enamel dot every made...
My wood veneer pieces are just jumbled together in a small basket that I dig through. My flair is the same way.

I have a garage-type drawer organizer that is meant to hold screws, nusts & bolts, etc. It has 30 small drawers (about 2 x 5.5 inches) and 9 larger drawers (about 4 x 5.5 inches). I got it at a big box home improvement store when I first started scrapping and I thought it was too big to ever fill up- wrong! I like the fact that all of the drawers pull out so if I think I might use something, I take out 4 or 5 drawers and can easily put them back when I'm finished. I store my sequins by color, one drawer for buttons (I have maybe a dozen), one for flair, clips, etc. I have a lot of wood veneer, so each type has its own drawer. I also really like the fact that it holds tons of tiny stuff but doesn't take up much space on my desk top.

I think you need to figure out if you must see your stuff in order to use it, or if you can put it away and remember it's there. A couple of peas have alluded to that in the past and it worked for me.
Buttons, brads, small clips, and "hard" items are together in one large Mason jar by color. Sequins are in their own container because they are fragile. Wooden embellishments are in tiny drawers in an old unit I bought at a secondhand store, but I use those a lot so I have a lot. Bling and charms are also in their own drawers. Enamel dots are in a box still attached on their packaging.
I know it took awhile for me to figure it all out, but it was worth it. Good luck!

I have to have a clean work surface and everything neat and tidy before I can scrap--or else I get distracted organizing and it kills my creativity. I mostly work from kits and don't have a huge stash. My embellies are sorted by type in ziplock bags after I finish working with a kit and then those bags go in a big plastic bin that I pull out when I'm working. If I get to the point where I have too many things for one bag (and die cuts are getting close), then I'll sort by color or if they are all from the same pack/collection, keep those together.

I keep loose buttons of every color in a big Mason jar. Ones still on the card or in their own baggie are organized by color in a plastic Sterilite container.
I don't have any sequins (gasp)!
I only have a small collection of wood veneers so I sort them by theme with like embellishments/papers in Iris boxes.
Enamel dots stay in their packages and go in my "bling" box.
Brads, eyelets and small metal embellies are in a large snap case, separated in their own little square wells (this case has a name, I wish I could remember it).
For me organization and storage are an ongoing challenge. I shift things around and change containers whenever a new idea strikes (frequently!). Good luck with your reorg!

I have a few decorative glass containers on my desk and a couple of them are for bits & bobs, that meand some digging I'm almost done with my reorganizing and I'm loving it, but I can't wait to go back to my projects!

I like to have some stuff on sight but not a messy look, that's why I recently had to change my "display" area since I felt blocked and discovered it was because of that. I have ribbons hanging on a metal grid up on the wall + some metal baskets holding bottles with buttons by colors, some bakers twine, and some other stuff, and a few decorative glass containers on my desk I'll share some pics as soon as I finish P.S. I'm rearranging my scraproom because I'm creating a children's friendly corner for my cousins & my future baby (I'm due on Oct.31st) to share creativity with me

I use several of those embroidery floss organizers. They are about 8x10x2 or so. The dividers are fixed. I sort my brads, buttons, anything small like that. Then I adhere a piece of bubble wrap on the inside of the lid to keep things from getting mixed up when I store it on it's side in a drawer. If you don't do something like that, the lid doesn't come far enough down to keep things put, unless you store them lid up.

My stuff is kind of every where:
BUTTONS: older solid color buttons are sorted by color and stored in ziplocs in a drawer. The assorted patterned buttons that were part of a collection are kept in the original packaging and stored upright in this box I use to store various embellishments.
BLING & WOOD VENEERS: are stored in separate letter sized scrapoizers containers that have a tray with four compartments. The wood pieces are loosely sorted by theme (basic shapes, words, nature shapes, animals) the bling is just arranged so I can close the container.
BRADS, EYELETS & OTHER METAL EMBELLISHMENTS: are stored in a third scraponizer container with an 8 compartment tray and are loosely sorted by color.
ENAMEL DOTS: are stored in their original packaging in my box of embellishments.
SEQUINS: are in one small tupperware container and are not sorted.
