I had about three feet of magazines left, some were Mary Englebreit but most were Somerset Memories, CK and SS. I had a brave minute and put the in recycling last weekend- hadn't opened one in over a hour. This morning I had mini pani- they were the kind with lists of questions and some special issues. (I did it "tear the band ide" style and didn't look at any) I still have a dozen plus idea books, like Ali's, Cathy Z. I might be the only scrapper left who doesn't like to watch videos. Am I going to be able to find lists of questions online? Please tell me it will be okay

It will be fine. Three feet is a lot of real estate in your bookshelf/scrap space. Congrats on your courageous act! Maybe you'll inspire me...

Do you mean questions as in journaling prompts? I'd try Pinterest or google and see if you find some blog posts, maybe. If you don't watch videos, do you listen to podcasts? You might try Paperclipping Roundtable or Scrappy Gals. And yes, this too shall pass! Of course, if you're still in a panic, maybe some retail therapy would help!

I felt a twinge of sadness when I read your thread title because I threw out my magazines, too. Probably about a year ago. Honestly, though, I haven't missed them. I don't really care for watching videos either, but there is so much inspiration online in other forms. Pinterest is great for scrapbook inspiration. You can definitely find lists of questions for tons of different topics. Just google what you're looking for and someone has pinned it or blogged about it.

I have 3 shelves of magazines I have not looked at in ages. I need to get rid of them but I am afraid of regretting it.

No regrets here. Yes I wanted to keep them, but we were moving and I didn't want to clutter my new house with magazine stacks. So I went through ALL magazines, not just the scrappy ones, and tore out or copied the techniques, layouts, articles, recipes, workouts I wanted to refer back to. Then got rid of them. All of them. In six years have never looked at any of those copies.

I got rid of my magazines about a year ago. I had the first issues of making memories and creating keepsakes plus others. I have not missed them. I too went through them all and took out things I wanted to remember but I haven't referred to those items either. Need to get rid of those.

And I thought I was the only one who still had stacks of sb magazines. I've gone through one extra large Rubbermaid box and torn out some of the pages that I had marked. Other marked pages I look at and think why did I mark this one. All torn out pages are in a small stack that will probably be tossed in a year. I put over 100 magazines in the recycling bin (it had to have been over 75 pounds - it was heavy). Still got a lot to go through and I will do it ONE DAY!!!!! I am going to keep one magazine - it was a Creating Keepsakes that had a Las Vegas two-page spread that got me started in scrapbooking - 15 years ago.

Sometimes band-aid style is the best way. Just like the rip, you might be regretting it right now, but in the long run, you won't miss them. I am sure of it.
I just did band-aid style with some travel and house decor mags last night. It felt so good to be rid of the clutter. No more moving the stack from here to there so "I can go through them". They are gone. That job is over and done!

Go buy yourself something you really want for a scrappy supply and tell yourself you did good.

I started going through my magazines before I tossed them. I had lots of post-it tabs on layouts I liked. I discovered most were not my style anymore. I pulled out a few pages and recycled the magazines. I've never regretted it.
I still print inspiration pages - from Pinterest, from scrapbooks.com, and other galleries.

I toss magazines and never look back. My style continues to change and mature, and those older volumes no longer challenge me.
Plus, I like the space. LOL

Oh gosh I am so not a saver so I always recycled them after I read them. It's ok to let things go.

And thanks to everyone reading past my typos! I got rid of the bulk of my magazines 2-3 years ago. These were the ones that were "special" or I hadn't really read. I can't believe I didn't stop and look as I tossed! alittleintrepid great reminder, you all are here to help. I know you'll rally!

I still look at mine from time to time but I need to go through them again. I got rid of a lot of the regular issues a few years ago but kept the special issues and others that had useful technique articles, etc. I'm down to a couple boxes that had to be packed up again after the old shelf they were on collapsed and once I get the rest of my studio organized it will be what I tackle next.

I tossed about 3 feet of magazines last week. I started looking through them and then realized that I wasn't so fond of the things I had marked. They all went to recycling. I feel so free.

I got rid of most of mine a couple of years ago. I kept the Simple Scrapbooks that I had and a few other special issues that I thought I loved. I haven't looked at them, but that's not really fair because most of my scrap stuff is packed in boxes anyway. I think you'll be ok. I'm a hoarder and i know how it can be when you get rid of something, but it's nice to have the cleaner space.

Well I think in teh long run you will be glad you did. I recycled mine years ago! I had 3 "special issues" that I had bought in the past 3 yeasr that I recently came across and donated. It was freeing! Now if I could do this with some of my less loved stash....

I'm the odd man out here but sometimes I regret dumping mine. Not like OMG what did I do but just sometimes I wish I had them. I miss just looking through magazines in general. I see old as the new in scrapbooking all the time, plus I forget how to use some of my older products. Now my style changed, but every once in a while I want to use an old technique I hadn't done in a while. For example, stitching a flower or making a ribbon border or using triangles on a corner of a layout or photo. If I had to do it over, I'd do it in stages because I'd see it with new eyes each time.

It's the techniques I'm afraid I'll miss most. I know I can find almost all instructions in a book or online- thumbing through the magazines would provide the inspiration to look.

I am almost finished going through one shelf of magazines.
1) I feel so guilty for all the money that I spent on those things. 2) I have bad habit of getting into something new and then getting everything I can to learn about that new thing. I have really got to stop doing that.

Move over for another one who has a hard time letting go of the magazines. Sigh...I miss the excitement of getting them in the mail and spending time leafing through them for ideas, inspirations, and more.

I tossed most of mine 3-4 years ago. Haven't missed a one. If I'm looking for something the first place I go is google search. It saves a ton of time.
But did you listen to last weeks PRT, it was about tidying up. The book they reference had a part about if it didn't spark joy, you thank the item and toss it! I think that is a psychological acknowledgement that it's ok to let it go.
