I know this has been talked about before, but I was busy with school and did not pay attention. I tried searching but I seriously stink at doing searches.
I have watched a few Youtube videos and am very intrigued. It seems that everyone has a different oven temperature that they use. What has been a good technique that has worked well for you. I will have to use a full sized gas oven since I do not have a toaster oven.

A fairly low oven temp worked for me in my electric. I think it was 300. I watched them pretty close the first batch just to make sure. Parchment paper worked well.

Very interested in this topic! I have not tried the perler or pony beads yet. As with OP, I don't have a toaster oven. I have heard differing opinions on the safety of using a regular oven...
I have recently (this week) purchased a couple or Viva Decor Paper and Pearl Pens with pretty great success. Anyone have additional thoughts on this method? I like the Paper Pen best but they are hard to find and come in limited colors seemingly since their american subsidiary closed down...

do a search on pinterest. I saw one today that used hot glue & paint I think. I am sure there are others I saw one that used nail polish it could have been hot glue or regular pearl things.

I have done it a long time ago, but I have so many now, and I just got a new oven Friday and I'm not doing it. I found most colors to melt well, but black and white never came out right...different somehow? I use a lot of black and white.
Also, I just posted this on another thread:
Honestly whenever I have bought them in last few years I get them from peachycheap... 6 packs for around $10-12 inlcuded shipping varying by brand, it's the best deal I have found and has me set for all colors for a while. However, you have to wait til they post another deal, usually theu offer these regularily though.

I have heard differing things on the health risks of making these in a home oven, anyone else make them in theirs? I used to bake from home so it was never an option for me but have been thinking about giving it a go.
There is so many different tutorials out there everything from the obvious melted pony and hama beads, dried pva to hot glue drops painted with nail polish, copics and alcohol ink, lots of different options.

I've done them with perler beads and with pony beads - the pony beads come out awfully big (almost 1/2" across) and they smelled. The perlers had no smell; but those are meant to be melted together in the first place. From what I remember, I used the lower temp oven for a longer time - I'll see if I can find the instructions I used. I baked them on a Ranger craft mat, and they popped right off that like a dream. The other thing I found was that it worked best to do them in batches of a single color. Some of the colors melted down faster than the others (I remember the black being particularly slow) and it seemed to work better to group them that way. Added: I think this was the info I used: scrapbook.steals.com/wp/?p=20150?utm_source=%3C?=$site?%3E-critital-impact&utm_medium=email-alert&utm_term=%3C?=$steal-%3Eid?%3E&utm_content=social-link&utm_campaign=%3C?=$brandName;%20?%3EIt calls for a pretty low oven temp and a longer time baking, but that's what worked for me. I have seen some posts where people had problem with older beads. I don't think it was actually that the beads deteriorate, but rather that something in the plastic formulation has changed. Since my "baby" is nearly 30 years old, any of the old beads we had are long gone, so I bought all new ones and they melted quite well. The pearl finish beads melt kind of funny and end up looking kind of like they have an eye in them (not a fan), but the striped ones melt down and look like tiny pieces of hard candy
