I am working hard to change my eating habits this summer. Your suggestions on my last thread were so helpful!
I am loving ing making stir fry with lean meat and veggies, but I get paralyzed with indecision on what to serve with it.mi have figured out that brown rice is better than white, but are there any other alternatives I am missing?
What about a tortilla replacement for wraps and fajitas?
Thank you so much!

Serve it on quinoa. Lettuce makes a good wrap.

My family's new stir-fry favourite is zucchini noodles! For some reason, serving stir-fry over half a spiralized zucchini is way more filling and satisfying than if the half zucchini were cut up in the stir fry. If you don't have a spiralizer, they are about $45 and totally worth every penny.
I usually use the smallest size wrap/tortilla I can find, and buy slightly larger ones for my family. I find a 4" wrap just as satisfying as an 8" one, and if I want more to eat afterwards I eat the contents as a deconstructed wrap / salad. When I had gestational diabetes I bought some special wraps (I think from Wegmans) that came in different flavours (green spinach, maybe an orange one that was vegetable?) and they were low cal and low carb.

I like to use a large leaf of Romaine lettuce for a wrap.

Serve it on quinoa. Lettuce makes a good wrap. I was going to suggest lettuce as well! We always make veggie stir fry (every now and again I add shrimp) and we serve it over brown rice. I actually don't serve anything else besides the rice and stir fry. It's pretty filling on it's own and we haven't ever needed a tortilla.

I order them direct from the bakery, freeze them, and take them out one package at a time as I need them. As for stir fry, there isn't any reason you have to have a carby underpinning with it. I eat the meat and veg alone most of the time and don't miss the rice.

I love lettuce wraps. The iceberg available here is great for the crunch, but the heads are so small they don't give enough wraps per head. I a, talking 2-3 per head. Romaine is not crispy enough for my liking.
Any specific lettuce suggestions?

I am always trying to be more greens in my diet. I just feel better when I have eaten a big bowl of lettuce.
Lately I have been arugula in place of a carb. I roughly chop it and top it with a stir fry, any kind of fish, roasted veggies, and the other day a trader joe's chicken curry, ( Not the healthiest thing but much healthier with the arugula than with rice or pastas)
I use Arugula because it has more flavor.
I need one of those zucchini spiralizers, one of my favorite restaurants offers zucchini as an alternative to pasta and I love it.

I make stir fries a little saucier and use rice noodles instead of rice under it. It changes it up. I also like to serve it over spaghetti squash.

I didn't want to shell out $40 for a spiralizer so I picked up one of these guys at my local kitchen store for about $6. It's a julienne peeler. The peeler blade has little nicks in it so when you "peel" the zucchini it peels in little tiny noodles. It's not this brand but it's the same thing...

I will make brown rice, Udon noodles, couscous or quinoa with a stir fry, but most of the time DH and I skip the extra carbs from the first three options. I also don't bother with the tortillas when eating fajitas.

I also just usually skip the carby whatever underneath the meal. And instead of trying to find good lettuce leaves for wrapping I just tear them up in the bowl and have a salad from whatever I had planned to wrap in the lettuce. Easier to eat anyway. Other times I do quinoa or spiral zucchini. I got a spiralizer and it's fun. The only thing you have to watch for is the amount of water that's in zucchini. The best thing I've found is to put the spiralized zucchini in a colander and salt it. Lots of water will come out. Then I squeeze more out with paper towels if I don't want to wait.

I have just started putting cauliflower in my food processor and pulsing it to make it into very tiny "rice" like pieces. I then use it in recipes like rice (without the boiling water part).
