I "walked" into one of the recent threads about the EC planners and started doing some reading. My interest is piqued and I'm thinking I might want to jump back into using a paper planner. I'm certainly one who can buy a bunch of stuff and never use it so I'm looking for some voices of reason before I spend any money.
I have the Paper Plum etsy shop up and I'm thinking this might be a good way to start.
Let me tell you a little about me: I work full time and I do all of my work scheduling on my Outlook calendar. I also use my Outlook calendar for personal appts, kids practice times, etc. I sit at a desk so for the "daytime" this is perfect. We have three kids and my husband runs a business where I help with the taxes, books, etc. Like I said, I keep up with appts pretty well with my actual calendar during the day but my running "to do" list is more of a jumble. I have notes in my head, on bits of paper here and there - basically, I'm a disorganized mess when it comes to the non-work stuff. I carry a big purse so it seems like the planner will fit inside it. I have and love my iphone but my Outlook calendar is inside a secure App (necessary for work) and it's a pain to get to it when I'm trying to schedule personal stuff outside of the work day. I love the notes app in theory but in practice, I find it is kind of a pain to type grocery lists etc so I often resort to paper.
I love paper products: notebooks, pens, etc. (I'm a nerd like that)
What else do you need to know about me? Diagnose me - am I good candidate to jump back into paper planning???

I perused the products available. My planner is cheaper and works perfectly. About me...I need a paper planner. Electronic ones don't work.
There are a few products that I could put to use in my planner. But, similar is probably available for cheaper in a big box store.

I use a paper planner, actually two. I was a big EC fan and used her planners for a few years. I especially liked when you could personalize the EC notebooks with a monthly calendar. But, since that is not an option now, I'm using an EC notebook and a separate EC monthly calendar. I like monthly better than weekly and I make lots and lots of lists (to do lists, task lists for the website I volunteer for, packing lists, etc.), so this works for me. I use a little washi tape (mostly to make tabs) and some stickers.

I use the Filofax planner. I believe mine is the personal size so it fits in my purse. I don't go crazy fancy with my planner, but I do use different color pens/highlighters/post-its/tabs depending on the category. I have separate sections for lists, projects, and notes.
I do keep things in my Outlook calendar, but I don't always carry my work phone with me. Plus I like the prettiness of the paper planner.
I actually left mine at home accidentally today, and I'm really missing it!

Oh good Christine! It wasn't last year for some reason. Excellent news.

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far.
I really think I want to try this. I know I should just go get one from a big box store but I do really like the customized covers from Plum Paper. I'm going to think about it. I have a note into my daughter too as I'm thinking she might like one for school.

I was FiloFax combined with Dayrunner since college, 5x7 ish size, then switched when iPhone introduced. I did it for a few years and had to switch back to paper, 8.5x11 honking three ring binder. It's so much easier to store kids flyers, forms, dates and they can access it when I'm home. I don't do the cute sticker thing because I might pull it out at work. They'll understand doodles but not stickers! Supposedly I decorate the pages later as they get files with chronological albums... But that's only a theory at this time

Oh good Christine! It wasn't last year for some reason. Excellent news. Mine arrived a week ago....using it instead of the teacher planner since I never used most of the TP for lesson plans as we have to use something online Love it as the covers are interchangeable.
