I wonder if there is a list somewhere where the retreats list if they have openings and need fill in scrappers.
Like it's just me and a friend want to go kind of a spur of the moment weekend and we need to find a place but we don't have 16 or 12 people.
Also what is the difference between a hosted and non hosted weekend?

Where do you live? I have attended a few...not sure if you're looking local or could travel a bit.

A few years ago, I Googled Scrapbook retreats and got lots suggestions. (I was organizing a retreat and was looking for suggestions)
Hosted means that food/drinks included. Non-hosted means you bring your own.

I have been to many with my own big groups. Just wondering if there is an easy way to find last minute fill in spots.
Like as if a big group has ccancelations and they need more people to fill spots.

If you are in Canada you can check out Crop Across Canada. They list events and also all(most) of the stores in Canada.

The Pine City Scrapbooking Co. has it set up so you just pay for your bed, rather than put together a group to attend. I have 1 friend that went there once and liked it just fine.
It isn't as cheap of an option, but how about stay at a hotel and just use the room? We usually did that for scrapfest and for 2 of us we would each bring a 5' table to use. You probably need to scope out the rooms a bit so you have enough space.

Pine City is nice, I haven't ever stayed there but I've checked out the rooms and the cropping room. I've also gone to Dragonfly Dreams in Lake City a few times and that's a nice place too but probably a little more expensive. That place only sleeps eight, and I think they might have some hosted weekends so you could possibly go to one of those without having to round up seven friends.
While not exactly a retreat, the newer store PaperMade in Apple Valley has crops every Friday and Saturday. You can do either or both and it's pretty inexpensive if I remember correctly.

So I'm a little late to the party here, but I can't pass up the chance to make a recommendation... AND my spacial relations are not the best, and I have no idea if this is a doable trip for you, but... I cannot recommend The Paper Dollhouse in Sycamore, IL, highly enough. I've been going there for 8 years-I fly there from NJ, and it's worth it. It's a beautiful, homey Victorian with the most welcoming feel. The website has a calendar under "Availability" that you can check to see if there are any spaces available-although she does book the whole house for parties of 12, she usually has multiple smaller groups. You will only share a bedroom with your own group. I've ever been to a non-hosted retreat, but I can assure you that this one is mega-hosted. The proprietor MaryKim is the most wonderful person you will ever meet, she is an incredible cook, and just takes such good care of her guests. She has become a cherished friend stemming simply from being her customer, and I know so many of her customers come to feel this way about her. (Geez, I think I'm PMSing-I'm gushing way too much. But, at least she deserves it!) Anyway, do at least check it out!!! The Paper Dollhouse
