Christie just announced he is running for President. Do you think it makes a party appear "less put together" when there are so many candidates OR is the party so well put together that they have so many worthwhile candidates? What's your opinion?

I think the party not currently occupying the White House always has a ton of candidates pop up at the beginning of the race.

I think so many of them will mean that they say outrageous things to make themselves stand out...and sink any chance at the general election.

It's just the nature of the game. Don't read into it. The herd will be thinned naturally.

Each one is more extreme than the next. My father who is a lifelong republican has said he isn't happy with any of these candidates. He's sick of the religious pandering and wants a true republican who leaves religion out of the mix. It's been getting worse and worse lately. He's considering voting third party.

I'm a Republican who hasn't voted for my party's POTUS candidate in a very long while. Too bad we don't still have the Democratic-Republican party.

Something else that's having an influence is the rise of the SuperPACS. Now that there are so few campaign finance regulations left in place, all a candidate really needs is a benefactor who will keep bankrolling the campaign. It used to be that that the primaries and caucuses and debates had an effect because a candidate's strong showing would result in more campaign donations and the $ would start to dry up for those who did poorly, but that's all changed now. We may be in a new era of the never-ending primary.

There are some who know they have absolutely no chance of winning but want to put their name out there for a possible run as the VP or perhaps from governor to senator.

Please for the love of God let him resign as governor while he acts like he has a shot at this.

I think it means there are a lot of egos in the Republican party. And I say that as a diehard conservative.
