We are having a small family reunion. It will be on private, rustic property, so we will have tons of room, however anything we need (props, prizes) will have to be brought in. We have eight adults, thirteen kids that are school aged, and three little helpers. I am thinking of having five teams. The focus will probably be the kids with the adults helping and supervising. I have a couple of ideas, but would appreciate the Peas creativity figuring out some games and challenges. I'm thinking of using armbands to separate the teams. The only thing I can think of for prizes is a big bag of candy, first place team gets first choice, and give out candy to all of them. They (the kids) are very competitive and athletic. Help! TIA

Not sure what ideas you are looking for, but we get together every summer with 4 other families and have competitions all weekend long. It is up to the host family to organize and we have had scavenger hunts, minute-to-win-it type contests, fear factor blindfolded food eating, etc. Teams are family even though there was a bit of an age range and size range (10 adults, 13 kids) and we stay away from pure athletic challenges. We have used bandanas from Michaels as buffs some years. The winning team gets a trophy DH and I made from scrap wood, spray painted with gold glitter paint and with a large bookplate holding the name of the trophy. Each year we add a small bookplate with the winning family, year and location. My sister hosts a family & friends tennis tournament every year (with modified rules). It is a doubles only and she makes the teams when everyone arrives. When the kids were younger the teams were always 1 adult/1 child and you couldn't play with your own child. As the kids got older she has let cousins team up. The grand prize is a home made trophy (tennis ball attached to an industrial spring attached to a wood base) with ribbons for everyone. You can get all the way to 10th place ribbons at our local awards store, I'm sure there is something local to you.

You guys are making me feel like a slacker. When our families get together we sit around and chat, eat, and look at photos!
