I don't mind fireworks displays put on by towns, etc. I do hate the fireworks set off my certain people in my neighborhood, though. They typically start a week before the 4th and continue for at least a couple of days after. Most of the fireworks they're setting off aren't legal in NY but people just go over the PA border to buy them.

Let's just say, I was very grateful when my kids got old enough that I didn't "have to" take them out to see the fireworks anymore. Couldn't express myself any better

With it being so close to the Fourth of July, I need to make a confession: I don't like fireworks. *whew* There, I said it. The noise annoys me. Parking to get to the venue annoys me. The crowd annoys me. Me either....although it's more the assholes in my neighborhood that have been setting them off for about a 1/2 hour..the poor dog is going to have a heart attack from barking. I don't mind watching them but I think it should be a CHOICE....this having to listen and watch without the choice pisses me off.

I hate the 4th of July because my house faces Friday Harbor on San Juan island and the fireworks there go on and on.
No one in my are had *any* this year. I don't know why but they didn't maybe they were illegal because it's so dry and hot? My dog had a great night.
There were fireworks downtown that lasted all of 10 min I heard. Yay!!!

We used to go downtown to watch the fireworks now we come out to the lake and watch them. They aren't the same as the big show downtown but it's pretty close. We just take the boat into the middle of the lake and homeowners shoot them off all around us. Then we just bring the boat back to the dock and go back to our camp spot. No traffic nightmare. And the lake is only about 1/2 hr from town and we don't get much holiday traffic.
But the older I get, the more I'd rather just stay home. DD still likes to go see them somewhere.

I am so grateful to live in a city where setting off fireworks is banned (except at organized public events). I don't care for them at all, and this way I'm not forced to listen to them being set off for days ahead of time and then all night on the 4th.

They are banned here in NY also...except some counties--not mine---just approved sparklers. These up the street from me were NOT sparklers

I wish our ban would at least make people think twice. It's a war zone here.

But the parts of the city where people ignore this law most egregiously are far enough from where I live now that the noise is in the distance. Nothing in the immediate area. The ban at least means that there aren't families setting off a thousand dollars' worth of explosives twenty feet from my house in every direction, which was the norm where I grew up.

I love them in a controlled atmosphere. And if the weather is comfortable.
The rest of it I can do without. It's just not safe here in California this year because it is so dry and I am completely freaked out about my roof catching fire.
