With it being so close to the Fourth of July, I need to make a confession:
I don't like fireworks.
*whew* There, I said it.
The noise annoys me.
Parking to get to the venue annoys me.
The crowd annoys me.

We watch on tv.
Outside: too many mosquitoes, walking a million miles to and from the car, crowds, drunks, traffic, drunks driving, did I say mosquitoes?
We gave up on municipal displays years ago. The ones on tv are pretty, have music, and we can turn channels for multiple cities.

I like fireworks from a far. In my little town nearby they do have an awesome fireworks show. Can be clearly seen anywhere around the lake and many nearby spots. It's crowded for that little town but not nearly like many larger. Very doable. But even so, this year the kids are older and can go (drive) on their own and want to be with friends. I think I am not doing it just for the I don't feel like putting in the effort reason.
I can actually see them from home if I go outside away from trees. I'm good with that.

I'm with you, too. I do like to *see* fireworks, if they're on TV and there's music for audio. But since I was a child, I cannot stand to brace myself for the "booms"--I can't help flinching! I don't like thunder, either. Or driving through an underpass when a train is going by above me. All those situations trigger a feeling of anxiety (even though I know that there will be no harm), and it can be torture to be repeatedly exposed and have to flinch over and over again.

I like them but not enough to go out and deal with the heat and crowds. Plus my dog hates them so it's better if we stay home with her.

Let's just say, I was very grateful when my kids got old enough that I didn't "have to" take them out to see the fireworks anymore.

Like papersilly I love them at DL or WDW but agree that they are probably not worth the hassle elsewhere!

I enjoy them but, we don't see them on July 4th. Living in Alaska in the summer it is light all day and night so they don't really show up. We go to a show in the winter where they are spectacular but man, do you ever freeze your tail off!

We usually end up back in my hometown watching with my parents. The fire department puts them on. So basically picture a bunch of amateurs trying really hard to make their money last as long as possible. They at least have electronic starters now for the fuses, but they still want to wait at least 30 seconds between each mortar and they only set off one at a time. It's the most boring fireworks show ever. 45 minutes of one mortar at a time. shoop! Bang! wait. Shoop. Bang! wait. sigh.
Our current hometown does fireworks for the town festival in May instead of for the 4th. They bring in a professional fireworks company to do the show. It's 15 minutes long and awesome. We don't even have to go down to the location to watch because we live a short walk from a hill that gives us a fantastic view of the fireworks. I love that the show is short and interesting. I can watch without worrying about parking or crowds. It's lovely.
This year we'll be in DH's hometown for the fireworks (his band is playing for the community show.) I have never watched them there before. I'm hoping for a good show. I expect there will be crowds though because we'll be in the main location for the show. Not looking forward to that.

I can lower the volume Every year when I was a kid, my folks would take us to see a big fireworks show. It was okay as a kid, because I didn't have to deal with the hassles of it. But man, I can't stand trying to see it live as an adult.

I love the actual fireworks but hate crowds and traffic. We can walk to the entrance to our neighborhood and see some good ones from our local park. Easy/peasy

I'm not too into it either which has always made my family really sad. My poor dog gets so stressed out that he has seizures so we have to dope him up, and there is always debris on my property from the street fireworks. I think fireworks are pretty but I much prefer the bbq / hanging out with family / music in the park at the yearly celebrations over the actual fireworks.

I love the fireworks themselves but I dislike having to park a million miles from the venue, having to walk a far distance while maneuvering chairs, blankets, food, water, bug spray, etc. plus my kids, then having to walk back later among drunk people and sitting in the car dealing with all the traffic at the end. I guess I love the fireworks enough to deal with it though, because every year, we go!

I guess I love the fireworks enough to deal with it though, because every year, we go! are you near any small towns? We have a decent show, parking sucks, but really the most you'll park is two, maybe three blocks away if you are late, leaving the area takes maybe 3 minutes and it is totally a family/kid affair. Love it. The major sports teams also put on awesome shows and it is worth the ticket price to watch a game and then fireworka.

I live five minutes from the Mall of Georgia and the stadium for the Gwinnett Braves (Atl Braves AAAteam). Both places put on massive fireworks ON THE SAME NIGHT! Yeah, traffic is a nightmare. I'm not sure why one can't do it on the 3rd. Every year we say never again and then every year we go back. Looks like rain this year though.

I can live without them, too, along with parades and Boxing Day sales. I'm not good in crowds.

I like the actual fireworks. But I hate the hassle of lugging crap to the areas to watch them, needing a restroom and nasty traffic. Plus one of our three pups is deathly frightened of them, and our neighbors light off tons, so I'd rather be home with her. She's already drugged for the night.

DH and I used to stay home because of scare-dy dogs. Last year was our first year without a dog so we went to a local FW show. It was OK, we got there early, ate walked around the venue then found our spot on the lawn. The show was really good. BUT there were two drones flying around right in the area where they were exploding. It was so distracting. Grrr! I had a hard time focusing on the FW and not the red and white light buzzing around.

I have hated them for as long as I can remember. Yes, I was that child crying at the fireworks in Disneyland.
This year has been particularly awful. We've been at 90 degrees for quite some time. Idiots keep lighting fireworks from their cars and causing brush fires everywhere. My friend's window was shattered by someone who aimed a firework at his house. A child I know is in the burn unit because a firework went off in his hand.
I worry about how many house fires there will be tomorrow. Fireworks are illegal here, but that really doesn't stop anyone. The police try, but there aren't enough officers to deal with a quarter of the population breaking the law.
Now professional shows are absolutely fine with me. Go have fun watching the fireworks! I can stay home and not worry.

I haven't gone to a park to watch fireworks in years...don't do crowds or mosquitoes! What I really hate are the neighborhood booms when you least expect them!

Traffic and the crowds are the absolute worst things about the 4th of July!!! I wish we could see the fireworks from our house. We used to be able to see them at our old house and it was great!!!

I have stayed home for the last three years. My dd goes to a friends house so I don't even buy fireworks for the front yard. I can't say I miss it
