In keeping with the holiday, I decided to make BBQ chicken drumsticks and potato salad. I'll be taking it along with the rhubarb cream pie I made yesterday afternoon to my 89 year old Mom's and eating dinner with her. She doesn't like vegetables so I'm going to skip them. What are you eating today?

We had cheese and ham tortellini dressed with olive oil and black pepper. I had an ice-cream at Costco earlier so will probably skip dessert, mind you there is a small bar of Cadbury chocolate in the fridge that may be calling my name

Wish you hadn't mentioned that bar of chocolate though.......!! We were out stocking up at our Costco earlier and had pizza and ice cream - so I think we just might be skipping dinner today!

We (husband + parents) are going to the annual Fourth of July BBQ at my cousin's house. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, and all kinds of side dishes. This is my favorite holiday of the year!

In spite of it being hotter than the surface of the sun outside, I am having a gnocchi chicken soup. So very 4th of July like, right?? I will, however, eat while watching 'Independence Day' which is a bit of a 4th of July tradition. It wasn't on last year on any channel and I admit being irrationally irritated. I must not have been the only person who felt that way as this year (today) it on AMC something like four times in a row.

Tonight, I'm going to see Magic Mike XXL with my ladies meetup.com group that I run ... I'm quite excited We go to my fav restaurant after the movie so I won't eat until then ... I usually order something like "Pesto Shrimp Flatbread" because it's really good ... oh, and wine I'll bake up some chicken nuggets and make a caesar salad for dh and dd's ... the last couple of times we had that salad dh has complained that there were no bacon bits so I'm going to add them tonight

I have some leftover carbonara from last night and I'll pair that with a side of watermelon. If I felt like strapping on a bra, I'd go to the store and get some eggs and make a pan of brownies..but that at the moment seems like too much work. We will see how strong the brownie craving gets.

We grilled hamburgers and bratwurst earlier with macaroni and cheese and chips. Considering ice cream for dinner, being a holiday and all.

Olive Garden take out - kids' choice, not mine. The consensus was no fireworks tonight, so I think it will be a movie night .

Tri-tip, fruit salad and a pasta salad with tomatoes and red onion that I made this morning. Really easy dinner. Plus tri-tip sandwiches for lunch tomorrow. Yum!

We're having hamburgers, hot dogs and pork chops on the grill. I threw some potatoes and green beans in the crockpot with some bacon to cook all day.
For dessert, I made a trifle with angel food cake, whipped cream, blueberries and strawberries.

since our plans got cancelled we're just doing a short stack of ribs and the much smaller version of our bbq since it's just Dh and i. I'm good with that! Icecream sundaes for dessert. Nice to chill out and relax.

What are you eating today? I love that your mom is 89 and doesn't like vegetables! And I love your new smiling profile picture, too! You are beautiful, akathy! There was an article the other day about the 2 world's oldest women. One ate two raw eggs a day, and had for many years, and very little vegetables! We are going all-American and grilling steaks, with corn on the cob and watermelon for sides. Maybe some baked beans. We would do the hot dog pizza, but my DH and I are both very lactose intolerant...

We had brats and pealess guacamole for lunch. Tonight I'm planning a bean zucchini salad with a leftover pork chop from last night.

Take out! Have no idea what will be open though. Our oldest has had a fever off and on since Weds afternoon. Today it's been steady at 101. Plus, Dh's brother is getting married today and DS was to be one of two ring bearers. Instead, our big guy is in bed, sleeping Praying his fever breaks soon! Dh is at the wedding and the boys and I are at home.

Happy 4th everyone!
We are having hamburgers, steaks or hot dogs (everyone can choose what they want), along with a meatless taco salad, antipasto salad, potato salad and fresh fruit (as you can see, we are all about the side dishes around here). I just put an apple pie in the oven for dessert!

Not everyone is home tonight, but the ones that are will be having hot dogs, mac & cheese, fruit and a dessert. Update: Not sure I've ever seen an update on a dinner post, but hot dogs were vetoed in favor of chinese take-out. I guess we're starting a new July 4th family tradition.

BBQ at sister and BIL's house. I don't really feel like going, but my mom and stepmom will be there, so I feel like I need to at least show my face for a while. anxiousmom, I used to always watch ID on ID and then I just got tired of it. The peas suggested JAWS instead, so now that's what I watch every year. It's especially timely this year. Take out! Have no idea what will be open though. Plus tough luck for you, also missing the wedding.

I'm grilling hotdogs, made my hotdog chili yesterday along with coleslaw. I'll add Tater tots and baked beans for DH. I even made a single serving apple pie, or I should say, Marie Callender made the pie, I'm just baking it. I wanted apple pie so bad but I knew I couldn't stop with one piece so I'll just have a little of DH's. Problem solved and I can continue on my healthier eating lifestyle.

We're heading to our local minor league baseball game and fireworks, so dinner will be something from the stadium. Thankfully the food options include a couple of micro-brew pubs so at least it's half decent. Although, we did have mahi mahi tacos for lunch so I'm not sure how hungry we'll be tonight.

Hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, pickles and watermelon or ice cream for dessert. We wish have chips for the fireworks. I bought something called Doritos roulette for dh since he likes stuff like flaming hot Cheetos, it's a mix of regular and spicy Doritos and I got cool ranch for ds who wanted the Doritos so bad he started to cry when I put them on the belt so the checker rang it up first and handed it to him and he was hugging the bag with a tear in his eye, and the checker said that should be a commercial for Doritos. Maybe I should enter an idea like that for the super bowl contest, but man my kid was hugging that bag of Doritos all the way home and I'm sure he can't wait until they get opened tonight!

It was supposed to rain today so we had chicken pad thai. It didn't rain so we ate it on the deck.
