I was supposed to go to a barbecue today. But I am having… umm… tummy issues. And I definitely don't want to be having those issues at a party – in 95° weather. I'm not too sad about it. I have kept myself busy laying on the couch and watching Drunk History. It's making me feel very patriotic…

DH and DS have been playing Destiny all day while I've read and played on my iPad. We've eaten our pulled pork, ribs and baked beans and are now suffering from what the boys call "food baby syndrome." and while it's great that Pensacola does its fireworks from a barge in the Gulf, so people can watch from the beach or boat in, the traffic is horrendous. Traffic over the bridges to the beach crawls (literally) from about 8 am all day long. With the temps here in the mid to upper 90s, being stuck out in the heat for 12 hours today just to see the fireworks was a no- go for me. Luckily neither DH or DS care much about the show.

My dh is working and both my kids are staying the night with family. It's just me and the dog. And Netflix.
Party central over here.

We went to a baseball game last night with fireworks after, and the local parade this morning with friends. DH is out of town for work, and DS and I are just hanging at home tonight. We've had a really busy couple of weeks and are welcoming some down time. We had a few invitations, but the boy said he really wanted to stay home, so that's what we are doing.

I'm home...just wish something good was on tv. " book of Life" is on zhZbZo tonight. I don't normally watch animated movies but I like the Day of the Dead characters.

Went to a BBQ but got back about an hour before it got dark. My pup hates the fireworks. I don't mind. My husband and sons are at the lake.

Our grandson is spending the weekend and we went outside to watch the neighborhood fireworks for awhile and now we're just binge watching movies. We always stay home on 4th of July - no way do we want to be on the roads with drunk drivers. A semi-quiet night at home suits us just fine. L

We are home for the evening. All fireworks were cancelled due to a burn ban. Just wish there was something good on tv.

I was invitited to a BBQ, but declined. I like being home on the fourth to keep an eye on my animals. Besides, there's air conditioning here!

My daughters and I are going to a fireworks display next Saturday. We've just been cleaning and organizing today. Our basement flooded yesterday. I had professionals come out to extract the water, and I filed a claim with my insurance company. We've been sorting through the wet stuff. The dryers and dehumidifiers will be here until at least Monday. Then the real organizing will start. Oh well, at least our basement will be organized I suppose.

We've been such lazy bums today. I curled up on the couch with my husband and cat napped throughout the day. Later in the evening we went to pick up some snacks from the grocery store. Heading back home all along the highway and parking lots were packed full of people anticipating the firework show. It was really beautiful to see. Flags waving, people singing, children with sparklers. Last year I was in Germany surrounded by a small group of patriotic Americans. It's so nice to be back home. Anyway, we made it back home in time to watch the fireworks from our front yard. We're now curling back up on the couch together and channel surfing: American Ninja Warrior and Independance Day.

Our day was fairly rainy today, so the cook-out we're attending was pushed to tomorrow when it's supposed to be gorgeous out. So today we just did little things with the kids...a playground in between the rainstorms, a trip to an ice cream place, a rented movie, etc.
Tomorrow we'll be at the cook-out/pool party during the day and a ball game in the evening.
Oh, and we went to the firework display Friday night.

We went to the Eastern Market (big farmers market in downtown Detroit), had lunch downtown at a fabulous Cuban restaurant, came home for a while, then went to see the movie Spy and then came home and had dinner. So, busy but nothing 4th of July-like.

Went to a movie. There were maybe a dozen people there. I tipped the two guys at the concession and the guy that cleaned the theatre when we left. $5.00 each. Just something to show our appreciation.

Me, and that's just what I wanted! I read a book in my hammock and ate a kahlua brownie for dinner.
