I have an overabundance of basil. As in lots and lots of it.
I've made Pesto and even frozen cubes of it for future use. I use fresh basil in many dishes I prepare. I've made Caprese salads.
But what else can I make that will use a lot of the basil at one time? I googled recipes but nothing really jumped out at me so I thought I'd see if anyone had a tried and true use for fresh basil. Is there a baked good maybe? Something on the savory side?
Thanks!

It won't use alot, but I LOVE a grilled sandwich with basil. Grilled mozzarella with basil, grilled portobella and basil, roasted red pepper and basil...yum.

What about focaccia? There are lots of yummy recipes out there, and you could probably bake and freeze some of them.

When we have an abundance of basil, we just make more pesto! We use it as the base for pizzas, instead of tomato sauces, as a pasta sauce, to coat meats before grilling or baking . . .

How about some basil cocktails? I've seen some basil vodka drinks. I've also had a strawberry basil martini that was tasty

Thank you for the ideas. They are all good ones. But I'm still hoping for something different... that maybe doesn't exist. But I'm going to keep hoping!

I just saw something like 10 ways to use basil on Pinterest. Nothing really creative... Pesto, mix in salads, pasta, pizza, infuse in olive oil. I have a lot too and I think I'm going to dry some.

Do you have a lot of herbs? I mix a bunch of my herbs into butter with lots of fresh garlic.
But the best is that at the end of summer you can use up all those herbs that don't keep well.. I make tons of herb butter and store it in in the freezer. Every time you make bread it is a little taste of summer.
