I have started doing the 21 day fix DVDs and really enjoy them.
They push their Shakeology product a lot. What sets this apart from other protein powders? They seems a bit expensive and I'd prefer one I can buy in a store versus through a rep. Does anyone use another one they enjoy? They seem like a good after workout snack.

I add this protein powder when I make green smoothies for lunch. If you are going to drink a smoothie, it would be better, IMO, to have it packed with greens and fruit with some protein added.

DH and I found some on Amazon called IdealShake. We had heard the Shakeology needed serious doctoring up and that it was nasty on its own. We like the chocolate and vanilla IdealShake.

Vega is similar in that it is all natural ingredients, no artificial ingredients, and no sucrose.

I use the Target brand whey protein powder with the 21 day fix and have lost weight just fine. It's like $18 for a big jug that lasts about a month....vs what, $180 for Shakeology?
ETA - I also take a multi-vitamin, so I'm not concerned about missing out on all the vitamins in the Shakeology.

Shakeology is $110 so $4 a day. You're paying for high quality ingredients.

I was not a fan. The taste was pretty gross. I use the Arbonne protein powder which is a vegan, plant based protein. I love the chocolate flavor! They also have vanilla and it's ok but I prefer chocolate.

Thanks for the suggestions. I too have heard they taste bad and are expensive. What more turns me off is going through a rep. I ordered the videos off Amazon to avoid that aspect.

I've had Shakeology. It doesn't taste any different to me than any other shake I've tried. There are tons of recipes out there to make delicious shakes. You are paying for high quality ingredients, and you don't need vitamin supplements if you use Shakeology.

I thought Shakeology was foul, even with other stuff added to it. Yuck.
I really like Tera's Whey - you can get it at Whole Foods or on amazon - it's good quality and tastes pretty good. It's better with almond milk than water, and I like half a banana blended up into it. But it really does taste good.

Isolated whey protein is the most bioavailable protein in powder form. I have used Unjury protein for many years. It's made in America, good tasting and blends well. It's also very reasonably priced.

I am not a big meat eater and try to steer more towards a plant based diet which is what appealed to me. But honestly, my bff sells Arbonne and she gives me her discount! So I get it for 35% off each bag of it. I probably wouldn't buy it if I had to pay full price.
I like the taste of the chocolate and it's super quick to make a shake each morning. It does keep me full until lunch!

I tried an Herbalife shake yesterday and here is my realization. When I'm hungry or first thing in the morning, I want savory foods not sweet like chocolate or vanilla. I have a tough time with shakes as a result. Yeah, they can be good but they aren't what I want. I may go back to Unjury since they have the chicken soup powder. That may be more of what I want.

The only thing is they are not touting Shakeology as a protein shake or whey shake. They are saying it is a vitamin and fiber shake. I don't mind the taste I have 4 different shakes in my cupboard I couldn't stomach they were so horrible. This stuff is very pricey! I too am looking for something but I like it and I feel good when I drink it.
Herbalife gave me heart palatations. I seriously won't go near that stuff.

I am turned off by the: 1) direct sales and 2) crazy-high price! I tried a sample pack and didn't like it any better than the protein I currently use. My husband and I really like Trutein and when you compare, its a fraction of the price. We'll be sticking with that.

I don't mind the taste I have 4 different shakes in my cupboard I couldn't stomach they were so horrible. This stuff is very pricey! I too am looking for something but I like it and I feel good when I drink it. It's both, it has 17g of protein plus has 40 amazing ingredients. I used to buy many of those ingredients separately, so when I saw them all in shakeology I immediately recognized it as a fantastic product. I buy the vegan ones because I don't want to consume whey, but I've tried them all and it really is about what you mix it with, can't be mixed with just water. You can't expect it to taste like cake with all those natural ingredients, but I wouldn't say it's horrible, I'd say it's pretty good. I just looked it up, I was mistaken it's $130 a bag but again I did the math once on all the supplements and powders I used to buy and I'm coming out better here. It's my afternoon snack at work to tie me over and prevent me from snacking on poor choices. I've been drinking it for about 3-4 years now.

Shakeology has the protein plus vitamins. Trutein has sucralose which is a poison I avoid in my diet at all costs. I also saw fillers and artificial ingredients. Here's a short article on its nutrition and no I don't sell it.

I mixed the vanilla with 1/2 of banana, cinnamon and a teaspoon of peanut butter. Not bad! It is palatable to me. I get the chocolate this month. I'd like to try the vegan too but I hate buying a huge bag then not liking it. That's what's happening with all of the other drinks I have. They taste like sand with dirt thrown in.
i appreciate your analysis Anabelle. I just signed up and didn't like all of the charges. I may just go with buying the shake.

I don't need a shake mix to get my intake of vitamins so that aspect didn't appeal to me.
