May be dating myself with this post but I love Weird Al Yankovic! He just released a new parody, this one on the Because I'm Happy song Because I'm tacky!

I watched the video. It made me smile. His full album comes out tomorrow and he says he is done making albums, but will continue to digitally release the songs and videos.
He's got to be like 432 years old. He was oldish when I was a kid.

He's got to be like 432 years old. He was oldish when I was a kid. He's 54. I just looked it up. Birthday in October. I think the man is a genius. We saw him in concert a while back--it was hysterical and family friendly. The best part of the concert was when he came out on a segway for his "White and Nerdy" and there were 2 guys, big white guys, who stood up during that song and sang all the lyrics. I loved this parody. I'm interested to see what he posts tomorrow.

I remember when he was on Dr Demento in the 70s and played the accordion. Another One Rides the Bus is a classic.

Personally, I'm looking forward to "Word Crimes" (Blurred Lines). And I still laugh at Another One Rides The Bus, Amish Paradise, Like A Surgeon, etc.

I remember when he was on Dr Demento in the 70s and played the accordion. Another One Rides the Bus is a classic. I used to use a cassette tape to tape Dr. Demento after I had to go to bed. It always timed out during the top 10, usually around number 3 or so.

I'm also shocked about his age. That means he reached a good level of success at a young age. Good for him. A couple of years ago, at the county fair, they had a viewing area for an educational video he made about the human brain. It was fantastic. I was hoping he would make a series of videos for other body parts/organs. It didn't happen.

My husband and I have been going to Weird Al concerts since High School. In 2012 we took our kids to their first Weird Al show--Alpocalypse. SO MUCH FUN!

Okay, I just checked Wikipedia. He was born in 1959--1.5 years before me. He was 16 when he first appeared on Dr. Demento. So, my memory is not failing me.

I realized that Weird Al is the artist I've seen in concert the most. I think I've been to 8-10 of his shows -some have been at fairs and such, but he was definitely one of the first concerts I remember going to as a teenager - around the time of Like a Surgeon.
I'm definitely buying the new album on iTunes and I can't wait for the other videos. He's doing one per day for 8 days - "Tacky" was the first one.

We used to listen to Dr. Demento after we closed at work on Sunday nights back in the late 70's. 'My Bologna' was another classic from back then.

Wow, can't believe he was just born in 1959!!!! Like all of you, I started listening to him on the Dr Demento show. I met Randy (MrNiceGuy) working at a Sonic Restaurant and he's always been a little warped. He was in charge of the music after we closed the restaurant. First few nights, I wasn't sure what the heck we were listening too and I sure cleaned a lot faster!! Weirdness grows on you I guess. Weird Al, no problem loving him right away! Hard to believe he started at 16. No wonder we all think he's so much older.
