I've been scrapbooking for over 10 years and I had always used post bound albums, but like you it got to be a real chore to do anything but put my layouts in the order they were scrapped. There was an episode of the Paperclipping Roundtable with Shimelle and Stacy Jullian about album philosophy and I thought "I'm just going to do it!" so I took the plunge. I purchased a couple of albums and took all of my layouts out of my post bound albums, turned my dining room table into a disaster area for a few hours and got it done and I LOVE it! 3-ring binders are not only easier to work with because of organization but they also hold a lot more; post-bound I got about 20 layouts per album, and with 3-ring binders I can get 50+ without it being awkward.

After the hassle of adding extenders to post-bound albums, they inevitably became unstable. I immediately embraced the 3-ring binders when they debuted & have never been disappointed. The ease of use outweighs my concern about the gap/rings between two-page spreads, which has been eliminated with the introduction of the WRMK 12x12 Ring Flush Bound Page Protectors (that I hope American Crafts will not discontinue)! I just recently switched to 3-ring binders too. I'm not a 2-pager and I couldn't care one whit about the gap. For me it is all about ease of use and fitting more pages in because with the bulk of a page, the post-bound binder fill up way too quickly and I about lost my sanity one day trying to squeeze more pages into the post-bound ones.. Never going back, unless it's a very small album for something very specific.

Is it just me then that has a problem with the pages curling on the bottom outside corner in the 3 ring albums.

I love 3-ring. The few post bound I have I over-filled and they are falling apart. I think the ease of moving layouts around is wonderful. I don't scrap chronologically and I move stuff around a lot.

I know when I place the 3 ring SB on the shelf, I try to be very careful the pages that seem to be drooping (maybe because they are bottom heavy due to embellishments???), are not bent/curved when I put it back it away.

I wasn't sure that I would like the three ring either, but the first time I bought one I was hoooked! The gap doesn't bother me like I thought it would because three ring are a thousand times easier to load than the post bound.

I would not and did not have a single regret. I despise post albums. My first was a post and that was it. The rest three ring binders. ONLY time I use post type if they are for one vacation or event, that might have a album cover that is really cute. That is the only time I use post bound now.

I started out 3-ring, switched to post bound, then back to 3-ring.
I like 3-ring so much better. I don't scrap in order so it's easier to add and move pages. The ring in the middle doesn't bother me at all.

Yes, shortly after I started scrapping in 2001 were 3-ring albums available locally. I've been using them for 13+ years without complaint!

I don't scrap chronologically, so 3 ring are a must for me, because it would be such a big hassle to be constantly moving pages around otherwise.

I totally love the 3 ring binder albums the best. So easy to maneuver.

Another WRMK 3-ring binder convert here! I also started with post-bound,and just recently moved layouts into a WRMK album and got rid of the old post-bound albums.
I do still love the quality of the CTMH post-bound, but I am always rearranging pages so the 3-ring work better for me.

I far prefer 3-ring for all the reasons you mentioned.

Still in the process of swapping out to WRMK 3 ring binders, I have a few more to replace. Do the post-bound page protectors fit the 3-ring binders? Or did you have to swap those out, too? I started out using post-bound albums, when I scrapped everything chronologically. As my scrapping process changed to scrapping whatever/whenever, I switched to 3-ring albums.

I was a post bound album girl but changed to 3 ring love the WRMK albums just sturdier and the gap dose not bother me at all.

When you open a flush bound protector, the two layouts appear next to each other without a visible gap/rings. For a visual, check out the WRMK Blog or WRMK video (1:00-1:42). HTH.

I still don't like it, to be honest. I almost exclusively do two page LOs, so having a two page layout that is preceded and followed by gapped pages is not desirable. Also, I really don't like having to look at a gap-less 2 pager over the hump of the rings; I just find that weird.

Wow, thanks for all the input--a lot of good points. (It took me a few minutes to understand 'gap' though, as I've never heard that term. I don't do 2 page layouts so that won't be an issue.) I've decided to take the plunge and change most of my post bound albums over. Many of them were kind of randomly thrown together and I'd like them more chronological and in some cases themed. I bought a couple of the WRMK albums since those are the ones I've seen recommended and will start my change over this weekend. Thanks again.

I am so over my post-bound albums. They are just so unruly and difficult to move pages around. I avoided 3-ring for almost 2 decades and gave in. Love them.

I love 3 ring albums. Makes moving things around so super easy!
My favorite are the WRMK faux leather ones.

I HATE 3 ring, mainly because I do double layouts and don't like the gap or the sagging pages (and I don't do heavy layouts but the pages still sag). I have one and use it as a WIP album.
I would also use one to store all the pages until the whole album is finished - then transfer them to a post bound.

The pages in your 12x12 3 ring will sag when you store them vertically. I lay mine down on the shelf to avoid that. If you want to transfer your postbound albums to 3 ring and the page protectors don't fit, just punch new holes.

I've always used post bound to but I am going to switch to the 3 ring because they are so much easier to add to and take out if needed.

I feel like I need to start a support group for the old-school strap hinge albums! I tried to do a 3-ring binder and hated it, I had to take everything apart and go back to my strap-hinge album. I love my cloth Creative Memories strap hinge albums and second choice was cloth close to my hear post bound albums. I still have a couple of CM ones left, not sure what I'm going to do when I run out. I don't like the Ahni and Zoe stuff, I might try the Heritage Makers ones.
