A question about homes; is it a ranch or a rancher? Yes, I have been watching too many episodes of House Hunters.

This former Philadelphian says rancher.
ETA it is probably a ranch style house, informally called rancher.

LOL Pennsyl-tucky is a whole 'nother world. It is where they have you-in-guys, chimleys (chimneys), cricks (creeks), you vacuum with a 'sweeper' when you 'red up' (clean) your house. Women carry a pocketbook (purse). A translator might come in handy.

Hmmm this northeast Philly girl would take her pocketbook to the crick. Except it's pronounced pock-a-book.

My entire family going back generations was born in western PA. Except me. Navy baby born in San Diego. We always said *red-up* the house. I figured it was short for *ready up* for company. We also called the end pieces of a loaf of bread the *bitton*. Not sure how to spell it. I figured it meant the *bit end*. My cousins always say *you-uns* while I say y'all. And an ice cream cone was a gee-dunk. But I think that's Navy slang. Love how each region has their fun sayings.

I live in Lancaster County. I grew up in a rancher. A ranch is where Pioneer Woman lives. We don't have ranches here, only farms.
