Old refrigerator is leaking. We need a new one ASAP! Please tell me if you have a newer fridge that works for you. Seems like every fridge we look at has many bad reviews. We want one that will last! We would like the fridge on top since we are tall. Thanks!!!

We recently got a Kitchenaid side by side & I love it. I've noticed that with "counter-depth" ones, your choices are a bit more limited...
All I can say is STAY AWAY FROM GE!!! When we had our house built, they used all GE products & they're horrible! Our GE fridge died completely (motherboard inside the door was fried & not fixable) in less than 3 years! GE wouldn't do anything about it b/c I did not purchase an extended warranty! Left messages with local & regional GE reps with no return phone call!
Our GE microwave... on its last leg. We have to smack the door in order for it to work (also less than 3 yrs old) b/c the motherboard on it is going... Not worth fixing!
Our GE dishwasher... UGH! I handwash all my dishes & use the dishwasher to dry them in! I've used every type of dishwasher soap out there & they do not clean well, even on the HOT cycle!
I don't want to jinx our GE stove/oven... so far so good!

I think they pretty much all have mixed reviews these days because appliances just aren't made like they used to be and are much more "disposable" than say 30 years ago. I'd check Consumer Reports also for reviews.

I bought a Fisher and Paykel counter depth and I love it! It's far more simple inside than most fridges, which I didn't think I would like at first but I love it. And the counter depth size is so much better than the fridge I removed.

I'd check Consumer Reports also for reviews. I agree. It can vary by model in the same brand and style too. I think it's worth the $30 to save yourself some hassle down the line. We bought LG a year ago, but I don't know anything about counter depth, so I can't say for sure that the brand would be good for you. It sucks how different things are and that you can't really rely on brand any more to know if it's quality and will last.

We just bought a LG French door refrigerator with the drawer style freezer on the bottom. We bought it at Lowes when they had a sale the first part of June this year. So far we love it. It has the ice maker in the door. Doesn't store as much ice as the ones in side the main compartment but we didn't want it to take up space in the refer. There is a bucket in the slide drawer of the freezer for storing ice. I always forget to dump it in there though. I love the water dispenser because you can slide out a little shelf and put the containers you are filling on it. and it is made for taller containers. The refer also has a digital temp read out so you know exactly how cold both the refer and the freeze is.
The only thing I don't like about it is the builders made the wall between the refer spot and the dining room to deep and if we slide it back all the way we can't open the left door all the way so we have to keep it toward the end of the wall so the door opens all the way so it sticks out more on the cabinet side. And it has a bigger gap behind it.

I have a Frigidaire Gallery side by side counter depth. It is white (because I prefer white appliances). More expensive than a regular fridge but not nearly as pricey as the Samsung listed above (that one is very pretty!) I've had it 2-3 years now I think. It has ice & water in the door. And shows the temp on the door. Also has a water filter and tells me when I need to change it. It's pretty small but we have a regular fridge in the garage that we use for extra stuff and drinks. Haven't had any problems with the Frigidaire.

And the counter depth size is so much better than the fridge I removed. We also have a Fisher-Paykel counter depth fridge and are not happy with it at all. It's about 5-6 years old. The ice maker has stopped working numerous times. Even when it does work, the ice production is minimal. The water through the door comes out in a trickle. At first, we thought DH had installed the water line wrong, but even after we had a plumber redo it, it's still incredibly slow. Our latest issue is the drawer that holds the ice is sticking, so it is difficult to pull out all the way. We have cursed this fridge numerous times. I did lots of research before we bought it, but like the OP said, couldn't find any models without some negative reviews. There are a lot less options when you have to have counter depth.

Thanks, everyone! It's two weeks later and we still haven't purchased a new fridge! We went away for a week so that was part of it. Coming home to a wet fridge wasn't fun. Reading over your suggestions. Keep them coming! We need to make a decision this week!

We have a SubZero - 8 years no problems. We had one in our last house as well. The fridge part is great, but the freezer is small. We have a freezer in the garage as we buy meat a cow at a time, so it's not a problem for us - but it's something to think about if it's your only freezer.

I'm in the market too (not for counter depth though). This month's issue (July) of Consumer's Reports is out and its the kitchen remodel issue with all the updated appliance info. I just went to the local library and read their copy and just use the Evernote app to take pics of the pages for reference. So easy that way! I'm personally going with a French door Samsung. Good luck in your search. I agree such a headache to have to shop for one but once you have it its so nice! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)
