We are heading to Seattle on Wed for the One Direction concert. DH is dropping us off early so we are looking for a restaurant to have dinner at before the concert that's within walking distance to the stadium. It will be myself and 5 teenage girls.
Also, anyone have any suggestions on getting out of there, lol? DH will be picking us after the concert and I know it's going to be a madhouse. I was thinking we would just hang out for a bit after the concert to let it clear out and then walk out a few blocks to meet up with him...

We have eaten at Pyramid Ale House several times and they have good food....burgers, fish & Chips, salads etc. The Internatinal District/Chinatown is right there too. Lots of small Asian restaurants - Chinese noodle places to Vietnamese Sandwich places. Uwajimaya is a big Japanese/Asian grocery store (has a bright blue roof) and they have an Asian food court inside serving Thai, Chinese, Beard Papa cream puffs (really yummy), Bubble tea etc. If you have some time to kill before the concert there is also a really cool bookstore (Kinokuniya) inside Uwajimaya.
I have no idea about the pick up....we are heading to Taylor Swift next month and wondering the same thing. While you will most likely be with a huge crowd and there is safety in numbers, that is not really an area I would want to walk around much or hangout out in at night.

What stadium? Is it at the Clink where the Seahawks play? Where are you staying? We always ride the train in when we go to watch the Mariners play (which is right next door to the Clink).

I'm wondering about parking. It's so confusing.

I don't think hanging around for a while then walking a few blocks is a good idea, especially not with teenage girls. It clears out fast after an event (although it doesn't feel like it when you're sitting in traffic!) and can get a little sketchy without the crowds. Your husband should arrive early to pick you up so he can scope out a spot to meet you instead.

Maybe your husband can park the car someplace and then wait for you at Pyramid? They should have tv's playing sports stuff (I think?) and then you and the girls could walk over to meet him after the concert and then all of you walk together to the car.
Parking lots and garages could be in the $40-$50 range but maybe less and I would be prepared to pay cash.

We are staying in Bellevue. Our plan at the moment is for me to text him right before the concert ends then he'd head over (from the hotel) to pick us up. That's why I was asking for other ideas. I don't think he'd hang out in a sports bar for 2-3 hrs. Maybe if there was someone else with him but not alone.
Good to hear that it clears out pretty quickly. He may just come before the end of the concert and we will get out as quick as we can when it's over...

My hotel is in Mukilteo, we're planning to spend the day in Seattle with lunch at the Space Needle (DD is turning 17 on Wednesday - so, this is all part of her birthday gift)...we're planning on heading to Pike Street after that. So my question is, where can I park downtown and catch the Light Rail? I used to live in Seattle but that was 20 years ago. I was horrified to find myself in Bellevue last spring and it has changed so much that I couldn't even find the original Bellevue Square! I know Seattle has changed just as much and I just don't know my way around anymore.

I believe the Pacific Place garage is the "cheapest" garage in downtown Seattle.....it is clean and centrally located (right next door to Nordstrom). You might consider parking there and taking the monorail over to the Space Needle. Then take the monorail or bus back and walk down to Pike Place. When you head to and from the concert, you can do the light rail, which will be underground (the above ground portion begins further south) or take the bus. There is also a huge parking garage close to Seattle Center, if you don't mind moving the car and want to skip the monorail for your lunch. Wednesday is supposed to be really nice! Should be a great day to go to the Space Needle!!

I know we took the light rail from a mall downtown (can't remember the name at the moment) to Safeco field when we took my DD on a 5th grade field trip . So I was thinking about possibly doing that again or even taking the bus up there. I didn't know if the light rail would be running that late.

So in looking at the map it looks like Westlake center was the mall we were at. Do you think that would get us out of most of the traffic?

Take earplugs! I've never been anywhere as noisy as a 1D concert.

There shouldn't be any traffic at Westlake Center at 11pm or later. No idea how many people will be trying to get onto transit at Century Link after the concert though..... i did find this info on the Century Link website: www.soundersfc.com/matchday/transportation/guideI can't understand why there is not a tab on the front of the CenturyLink home page regarding public transportation. Seems like a no brainer to me! Just list all of the buses and trains routes that pick up/drop off in that vicinity and show whether they travel out N/W/S or E!

If I was being picked up afterwards, and was taking light rail to where my husband was meeting me, I'd take it south a couple of stations to the Mt Baker station. It's a well lit transit center. Starbucks across the street will be closed. Your husband can park in their lot. Text him when you get on the train....you'll be about 5-6 minutes away at that point, he can cross the street and wait for you on the platform.
Stations going south from the stadium station are...SODO, Beacon Hill, Mt Baker.
ETA this station is the easiest to get to/from Bellevue. It's about a mile off of I-90. Take the Rainier Ave South exit (first exit on the Seattle side of the I-90 bridge and tunnel) heading SOUTH. Follow Rainier for a mile or so. Starbucks will be on the left, the transit center on the right.

Okay...I've decided what we should do is park early at CenturyLink parking garage and then lightrail back into the city for the after noon. I'm kinda freaked out by the idea of being stranded in downtown, lol, don't want to run the risk of getting out of the show late and have no transportation to my car, kwim? It's been too long since I've lived there.

You'd have plenty of time after the concert ends to get the train to downtown (or any of the stations). Just food for thought if you want to park outside of the fray.

We're doing the same thing ... parking there early and then hanging out all afternoon ... it means kissing $40 goodbye for parking but at least we won't be scrambling after the show We did a dry run of our route in and out of downtown Seattle today

Michym- thanks so much for that great info! I think we are going to that. That sounds like the best plan. My DH doesn't do traffic well so I think this is will be a good plan, thanks so much for the help. I feel a lot less stressed about it now that we have a better plan in place. Crossing my fingers all will go well.

And make sure when your husband takes that exit off of I-90 that he takes the one going SOUTH, there's also a ramp to go north at that exit.

We followed Michym's suggestion and it worked out perfectly! DH thought Mt Baker stop was in a sketchy area but all was good. Lots of people using the light rail so we missed the first one and had to wait 15 min for the next one. Plus they only have 2 machines to buy tickets. I suggest buying them beforehand if you know that's your plan. That held us up at least 15 min.
Concert was great though. Got held up an hr due to some seating snafu in the floor seating area so that sucked. I have a very happy 14yo. Oh and I got to meet a pea! She'll post a pic I'm sure.

Yes, it is in what could be considered a sketchy area if you're not used to the neighborhood, but I didn't mention it as it's actually quite safe and I didn't want you to worry about it. Glad it worked out and that the concert was a success!
