Hello everyone who's making changes for a HEALTHIER YOU!
What's going on this week? Any new goals or accomplishments to share?
I had an up-down week on the scale... stressed, ate like crap for two days, gained, and now lost and losing again. I think I'm getting shin splints (I'm very prone to them) so not doing any exercise that involves impact on my shins/ankles until I'm healed.

I've lost 10/20 pounds I gained from Thanksgiving to Memorial Day. I was having some major insomnia issues, which made me feel exhausted, stressed, and anxious. That's a recipe for eating sweets for me. Sleeping pills have made me feel like a new person. I've been working very hard to get my diet under control (and I don't mean diet in the sense of dieting.)
Once the next ten pounds are off, I'll add my exercise back in. I'm not doing much beside walking the dog and weeding right now. I've been very swamped with work for the last two months. That should ease up by mid August.

I was up last week 1 lb. It was the first time I've had a gain since beginning WW again in January. Tomorrow's weigh-in is looking like it's going to be a good one and should be meeting my next goal! I'm so thankful I've never had shin splints. I had friends who dealt with them during track season, and they just looked so, so painful. I hope yours heal quickly!

Hey Ashley, I struggle with shin splints as well. A personal trainer once showed me a great exercise that really helps me, plus it is super easy!
First you have to sit on a bench or a chair where you can touch your feet fully to the floor. Sit up straight and with your feet together lift up your toes and leave your heels on the ground. Keep doing that motion for 3-5 minutes. This strengthens the thin muscle that runs along your shin, it will get tighter and will help with the pain.

I used to do this and then stopped.. guess I need to get back at it! I also do the "hang off a step by your toes" stretch before running/walking. I should probably let things heal before I do any of these stretches?

the scale continues to go down and i'm at 133 this week. 2 more pounds down. i hit my closet again and dug out my skinny clothes again from many, many years ago to see if i'd maybe gone down another size. i was literally shocked to the core when i pulled on a size 8 pair of jeans and they fit! okay, so they were snug, but aren't all jeans when you first put them on? well that's what i'm telling myself. a size 8 dress fit too, but the hemline is far too low to still be in style. it's a beautiful dress though so i'm thinking of having the hemline raised-i don't sew.
i did start cooking again, but only one meal so far-i chopped 2 veggies, and felt such pulling in my healing shoulder that i have decided not to push it. i'm healing frim rotator cuff surgery of my right shoulder. i trid cutting the veggies with my left hand but it was hopeless. i can type with my left hand, but cutting veggies is another ball of wax. luckily dh has decided to take over the cooking and is making stir fry veggies with tofu and green curry sauce tonight.
my goal for next week is to stop eating yogurt and find vegan alternatives for a quick filling snack.

I have had a few weeks of on and off bad choices. Kind of "well I know I'm going XXX so I'll eat crap until then" instead of eating healthy and just taking the crap days in stride.
But I'm on day 3 of back on the healthy eating plan. For me this is giving up breads and starches and sugar. It is just what works well for me.
But I can't decide if my headache today is from 3 days of sugar withdrawal or that my period is coming soon....

I haven't been eating well this week - I am packing to move next week I have been trying to get my 5 meals/snacks in through the day but sometimes they aren't as good of choices as they should be. Gym and exercise is non existent as well. I take full responsibility for my choices this week.

I was a really bad girl last week and gave way into the mini Reese's cup craving I was having. I gained a little over a pound back last week because of it. I got it out of my system though and I am back on track with eating this week.
The tendinitis is still giving me a fit. The air cast things that I am supposed to be wearing actually make them hurt more, so I'm ditching them for a few days to see how it goes.
Exercise has been going well. I'm still doing 30 minutes of calisthenics a day and I am up to 12 miles on my recumbent bike.

melanieg, it's hard to do it all! ~Susan~, yay for getting back on track with eating! That's awesome -- indulge, enjoy, and then back at it.

I love this thread! So many accomplishments. I despise shin splints. Thanks for the stretch idea! As I've said before, I don't weigh myself. In my early 20's I became obsessed with the scale and it led to somewhat of an eating disorder. I don't want to go back there. I am down for sure. However, I am really confused why it isn't more. I guess I can thank age and synthroid. I track calories in My Fitness Pal and try to stay right around 1200 calories per day. Maybe that is not enough? Any insights? I went shopping yesterday. I bought some new shirts in a size medium! I also bought dress pants two sizes smaller than I wore on the last day of school.

I had a piece of pizza lunch that I shouldn't have eaten... But, I also signed up to run my first half marathon with my BFF in Phoenix next February! One balances out the other, right?? Boy, do I have some work to do!

Well I've just found my new motivation for staying on track for eating healthy.
The last time I changed my eating habits for the better and lost 80 pounds, I was up in the 220s. But never did I experience the issue I have now. Probably age and sagging have something to do with it.
You know that "baby bump" that never quite goes away? Mine had started to develop a "crease" under it - that is partly what prompted me to start back on the healthier eating train back in January. The fear that that "crease/overhang" would become a much larger crease/overhang.
Tonight I started the tub and got ready to drop in a lovely bath bomb, and discovered that there was a very red heat rash/sore area in the crease. It has never done that before - and I'm SO done with it. There will be no more junk food for this lady. I'm back on track for good, because that crease's days are numbered!
There will be treats on occasion in moderation, but no more nightly chips/dips/candy/chocolate - DONE
