I was shopping for new shoes today which is arduous to say the least. I was having a pity party for one when I saw a woman struggling to put a shoe on and I realized she had a prosthesis.
It reminded me of a poem I read 4 decades ago named Lord, Forgive Me When I Whine:
Here is the first part of the poem:
Today, upon a bus, I saw a lovely girl with golden hair, I envied her....she seemed so gay....and wished I were so fair. When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle. She had one leg and wore a crutch; but as she passed....a smile!
Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I have two legs. The world is mine!

Having my domestic worker remind me she is due at the clinic to queue ( probably for most of the day) for her medication tomorrow.

I'm not scrapsontherocks but it means to stand in line. Most of the day? Yeah, and we get upset if there are 3 or 4 people in front of us and they don't open another check out at the grocery store.

Having a hard day at work and complaining about it, wondering why its never easy [to do this particular job], then having lunch with a friend who has brain cancer. Yeah it really puts it into perspective.

Thinking about how great my kids and family are, and how many people love me. Yesterday when I told my two oldest girls about my job, and the resulting miserable long hours and commute and how I won't see them all week long, the first thing they each said was "Boo! That sucks!" and then my 14 year old quickly said "I can make dinner some nights!" and my 11 year old said "We can help the little girls get ready in the morning before school!". What considerate and thoughtful girls I have!

I went downtown to turn on the utilities for my new home. Across the street is a soup kitchen. There were several of our homeless citizens with their shopping carts full of all their earthly possessions waiting under the shade of the trees to be served lunch. I felt truly humbled. I ended up going back to my vehicle and grabbing several water bottles for them. I never carry cash but I always have water. Our temperatures this week are in the 100's.

Trying on clothes in dressing rooms with big full length mirrors. Yep, stores would sell more clothing if they ditched the fluorescent lighting!
