Yeah that is pretty gross but not as gross as my co-worker who used to bring cooked chicken breast into the ladies room and proceed to cut it up and I have no idea what else and we had a break room with sink and counter space so I could never figure out why on earth would anyone prepare their food in the ladies room, always made my stomach flip whenever I saw her doing that..so gross!..lets hope your shopper doesn't put anything back on the shelves.

I'm pretty sure the stalls around the shitters will keep most of the flying poo out of her cart...
But, yea - that is weird. It is forbidding to take anything you are buying into the restrooms at most stores.

I don't understand why people don't go first. Does the urge to poop or pee just become uncontrollable that quickly for that many people? I guess maybe for little kids, or maybe lots more people than I realize have unpredictable bladders. *hugs bladder of steel tightly*

Not to mention some people have medical issues they can't control.

Uncontrollable? No, but I see no reason not to take advantage of the facilities when it's right there. I leave my cart to the side and then finish my shopping trip. It's not that big a deal.

Oh boy...I knew as soon as I hit post that I'd get grief. Sorry for sounding bitchy. I just got back from a two-hour-long ride through the city and suburbs that should have taken one. Annoyed as hell! I'm sorry!
(Though also still grateful for steel bladder, didn't have to stop once lol)

Every store I have ever been to has signs that say to never bring merchandise into the restrooms. Has this woman never seen the episode of Seinfeld with the flagged book?

And yes, when I have to poop, I have to poop. I'm not one of those people who sits on the toilet for 30 minutes. I feel the urge and it slides out in less time than it takes most people to pee. I have a pretty tough bladder and can hold pee for a long time. Poop, nope, can't hold it.

Yeah, at our store, it clearly says no merchandise allowed in restrooms. If I have to go, I just leave it outside. Is there seriously anything in there, that if someone does steal it, you just go get another one off the shelf? Truly bizarre!!!

I know that it is (mostly) psychological. I can be happily going about my day with no urge to pee, but as soon as I step foot inside that grocery store I feel like I'm going to wet my pants. I always make sure I go to the toilet immediately before grocery shopping. Gee you make me laugh!!! ETA: Oh, and Zee.... I envy you with your bladder of steel, hug that thing tightly! That was me once. 2 kids and my laziness when it came to pelvic floor exercises ruined me!

I guess maybe for little kids, or maybe lots more people than I realize have unpredictable bladders. *hugs bladder of steel tightly* There are definitely medical conditions that make people have to go urgently, but that still doesn't help me to understand why you would take a cart into the bathroom. Besides any personal gross-out factor for some, like was mentioned earlier, most stores make it very clear that merchandise which has not yet been purchased is not allowed to go into the restroom with you. But for me, the real head scratcher is why would you want to try to finagle a cumbersome cart into what is often a pretty small space. Stores often allot little space to restrooms. Heck, I often found it hard to stand next to the baby changing table without being in someone's way, never mind trying to park a cart somewhere.

LOL, I worked at one of those bank branches inside a grocery store when I was in college, and that's a new one on me! I'd say I can't believe someone would actually DO that, but I know better. My grocery store idiosyncrasy is that for some reason going into a grocery store makes me unbelievably thirsty. Every.stinking.time! It seems like I'm always looking for a drinking fountain when I grocery shop. It's weird.

I guess maybe for little kids, or maybe lots more people than I realize have unpredictable bladders. *hugs bladder of steel tightly* I had some GI issues for years...and there were times I could not even finish a meal before having to run to the restroom. If we'd go out to eat, we were never able to make stops along the way home because everyone knows "Mom needs to get home".
If I woke up, didn't have anything to eat or drink, I'd most likely be able to get through a shopping trip without having to stop. If I dared have a Starbucks drink as I shopped, I'd ALWAYS have to stop and go. I've had to rush to the restroom after drinking WATER.
It's not fun to have to schedule your life around having access to a toilet. Uncontrollable and quickly doesn't even begin to cover it.
(thankfully, my digestion is MUCH better now)
With that said, I never ever took my cart into the ladies room. Remove my purse, absolutely.
(P.S. enjoy this information in your spreadsheet, you spreadsheet keepers LOL)

I saw that for the first time at Costco. yukk. I would never do that. If I had to go desperately, I would leave the cart near customer service and tell someone who worked there that I will be right back. that is what I do if I am leaving a restaurant and I have a soda cup and no one to hold it for me while I go to the bathroom. I always leave it with a waitress or cashier but never take it into the bathroom with me.

When I am travelling, though, sometimes all you can find is a grocery store, Starbucks, Subway, etc. My bladder of steel isn't a solid as it used to be. Part of it is age, I think. Part is the quantity of water I drink in a day which is a lot. Plus the kid always had to pee no matter where we went. Clear across the mall from the restroom? Yup he's gotta go. Same with Mom. As soon as we got near a bathroom I would ask her, do you have to go now? The bathroom is right there...

I saw someone take their cart in after they had paid for their groceries. Maybe they were afraid someone would take off with their cart of paid groceries, but highly unlikely in the area we live in. Plus, it's not like they can bring the cart into the stall with them! I have to try hard not to think about germs when I'm out and about. People with who knows what may have touched stuff as they were stocking shelves or grabbed something and decided to put it back. No, I just prefer not to think about it, and wash my fruits and vegetables that aren't packaged.

Some days I barely make it to the bathroom and then there are days when I come out and have to quickly turn around and go right back in. It is uncontrollable. ETA: However I always leave my cart outside the bathroom

That would seem gross to me too. But I guess I am a germaphobe, I don't bring food or drink into the restroom. If my kids or husband are shopping with me, I have one of them hold my purse if I go into the restroom! I hate to take my purse into the restroom (some don't have hooks).

My daughters like to brag that they can go before they leave the house for school, then not have to go again until after track or dance at night. Plus, they say the girls room at the high school is scary! I tell them that they laugh at us now, but it's coming! I was the same as them in high school, I could hold it for hours!

I don't even know where they're located. She explained that while pregnant she has to go all the time. Then I figured I guess if you're out all day running errands, the grocery store might be your last stop on the way home.
