And I fully expect Jack, Janet, and Chrissy to walk in any minute now.
I'm at a steakhouse ( and lounge! ) in Hastings, Nebraska that is like a time warp to 1978. I'm 99.9% sure it's not intentional. I'm dying to take pictures, but I don't want to be rude.
I feel like it's 40 years ago and my grandpa took me to his favorite hangout. It even smells like the 70's.

HA! We have a "dated", family owned steakhouse too that reminds me of the 70's...including the reek of cigarette smoke. The food wasn't great and we couldn't get out of there fast enough and we never, ever went back.

I'm afraid I did not get a picture of the Spanish lantern on the table, or the stained glass matador wall hanging.

Isn't that fabulous!!! I knew right off what your reference to the Regal Beagle was. I think maybe you have to be over 40 or 45 to maybe have an idea. Love it.

That does look like the 70's!!! Are the male patrons wearing unbuttoned shirts to flaunt their chest hair and gold chains?

I live in Omaha NE. It is known for its old school steakhouses that are stuck in a time warp. DH and I have been trying to hit them all before they close. We lost a great one last year "Eli Caniglia's Venice Inn".

any velvet paintings there? I thought I saw one once or twice, but at a second look they were just very dark. The matador stained glass, though, that was something to behold.

lisacharlotte I'll be in Omaha tomorrow night! I'd ask you to meet me at one of those happening hot spots, but I can't be sure when I'll get in. I'm really glad I went. The food wasn't awesome, but the experience was worth it.

Oh. My. word.
The colors! The "barrel" shaped chairs!
Good grief. That place is like warping back in time. LOL
Was the menu as "throw back" as the decor?

hollymolly Brother Sebastien's makes the Best of Omaha every year. The outside is designed to look like a monastery and they have Gregorian chants playing. The decor is seriously old school. Great Prime Rib!

Gorgeous! Haha! I'm 37 and knew what you meant, but we only had 2 channels (one good one sucky) growing up so I've seen Three's Company. I was wondering if there was really a place called the Regal Beagle.

I was thinking, "Why does the Regal Beagle sound familiar, have I eaten there?" until I opened the thread! Funny how details from the shows from our past weave into our own memories! I loved Three's Company!

Thank you so much for the picture... I might just have to add this to the thread about what made me happy today - what a trippy flashback!

I'm 35 and I totally got it, but we didn't have cable so I watched a lot of old reruns growing up. That looks so awesome! I love places that are stuck in time. I'm glad you had such a great time.

Well I am 34 and I kept reading the thread title because it rang a bell. So I didn't know it right away but the back of my brain knew it referred to something (I grew up watching Nick at Nite before bed. ha! Three's Company, Welcome Back Kotter, Bewitched, Dick Van Dyke... all shows I enjoyed when they were aired the 2nd time around. ) That picture is amazing. lol You really aren't lying. It's like this place is stuck in some time warp. I love it!

My uncle built his restaurant in the 70's and it looked so very similar to your picture! He even had a small dance floor with the gilded, smoked mirror wall. It was always dark and smoky.

Great Prime Rib! <-- went to Brother Sebastian's for dinner before prom in 1989. Please tell me Cascio's is still there. Farmer Brown's in Papillion was Dad's favorite, though. We went back and ate there when my niece was baptized a couple of years ago and I don't know if my tastes have changed or if the food was always that bad, but yuck.
