I know a thread was posted about this before, but I can't find it.
We've never stayed at an all inclusive resort, DH and I are traveling with 2 DDs ages 20 and 23. Thanks!

No recommendations.. But why would one want to go there and risk their safety?

I believe most resort areas in Mexico are safe

I think they are safe also. We stayed at the Moon Palace in Cancun and loved it. Entertainment every night. Fourteen restaurants to choose from. Great staff at the pool area to encourage people to play volleyball and participate in activities. You can also take a boat I believe to go snorkeling not far from the hotel. Golf also if that is your thing. And it was close to the airport.

Mexico's crime rate is lower than that of most US cities. The resort areas are especially safe as they are fenced in and guarded.
I like the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum. Mainly because you can have breakfast in the small restaurants on the beach instead of the huge buffets, and the food is better than that of the other two resorts I've stayed at in Mexico. It's away from the urban sprawl of Cancun, but close enough to several ruins and attractions to make an easy day trip.

Cozumel is still relatively safe for tourists if you don't go into town at night. It's on an island so that is part of why it's a safer location. We have stayed at a nice AI called El Cozumelenuo two times and we loved it both times. They have the best beach and snorkeling right off the beach out of any resort on the island. The food is just so- so and the drinks are just okay but the workers are great and very friendly and always ready to refill your glass with a smile. If you want the prices and food of a five star hotel then this isn't the place for you but if you are looking for a nice hotel with an absolutely beautiful view and great snorkeling then consider staying here. The prices are pretty decent too. El CozumelenoI also recommend if you are looking to take a great snorkeling trip then consider booking with Fury Catamaran excursions. The last time we went with them and we had a great time. Fury Catamarans

Yes, most resort areas are safe. Do you have a location in Mexico in mind? I've been to Cancun/Riveria Maya and Los Cabos a few times. I've stayed at the Grand Oasis, ok, needs updating, very much a party atmosphere. Another time at the ME, pretty fancy, newer and beautiful but a little boring/stuffy to me. Barcelo Los Cabos Palace Deluxe was nice. Your DD would probably like Cancun rather than Los Cabos as the clubs are closer.

I've been to Cabo San Lucas (located on the southern tip of Baja California) three times and always felt safe. Last summer I was there with my 25 year old dd. We stayed downtown for four nights and then at my favorite resort, the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, for three nights. We went out every night while downtown - walking to several restaurants and clubs (El Squid Roe, Cabo Wabo, Hard Rock Cafe) and never felt uneasy. No matter where you travel, you should follow some basic safety precautions - traveling together, not accepting drinks, keeping as little cash as possible, hold purses close to you, know which beaches you can safely swim, etc. The biggest annoyance is timeshare salesmen, especially in the airport.

Thanks everyone! We were thinking of Cozumel, Cancun, or Cabo. DH and I have been to Cabo before.
We'd like to be on the beach, we love snorkeling, and we want good food (we don't drink but DDs might have a few).
Thanks!

We have stayed at the Iberostar Playa Paraiso Maya and liked it. I felt safe 100% of the time.

Earlier this year, husband and I spent two weeks at the Excellence in Playa Mujeres. We stayed at the Excellence in Cancun the year prior. Excellence ResortsBoth visits were wonderful. We never worried for our safety.
