Here's a history of shootings at US Military Installations. A lot of attacks I have never heard of referred to as terrorism. link

"soft target" usually just means a civilian target in the lexicon of terrorism whereas a "hard target" would be attacking a military base or ship where everyone was armed and prepared for an attack. I don't understand why the FBI and other government agencies keep trying to minimize the fact that there are people in our country that are trying to hurt people. As many people as possible. Do they really think that making the public believe that nothing is going on is going to keep us safe? Other countries have dealt with terrorism for years and still have active economies and citizens who do everyday normal routines--surrounded by people to protect them, of course. I feel like my government is treating me like I'm a little kid who can't handle the idea that there's a group of people that wants all of us dead, so they keep us in the dark. I hate that so many of our service people and civilians have been killed. These people are just walking around among us, and plotting. I don't want to dismiss that this is a tragedy and that it is a horrible thing that happened, but your post makes me want to rip my hair out at the roots. How many mass shootings do we have in this country every year? And how many are committed by Muslims? What's going on is that people are killing people in this country every day with GUNS, and the only time some people really seem to freak out about it is if the shooter has a Muslim name--which in the scope of the shootings in this country is exceptionally rare. A white person killed 9 black people a few weeks ago and people objected to that being called terrorism. How is that any different? PC people make me just want to rip my hair out. The terrorist are here, in the USA, and they are taking out people because that is their plan. Why the hell people like you cant see it makes me crazy. Instead of the whole big 9/11 type of act, they are doing a smaller scale. But our administration keeps playing the game and not calling it terrorism. It makes me sick.

Several of those I would have considered Terrorist, especially where the intent was for multiple casualty. I consider the DC sniper a domestic terrorist, even though he was never labeled as such. I do think our current administration tries to curb the discussion of terrorism. I wasn't even aware initially that the shooter was a Muslim until it was posted here, and I still felt it was terrorism. There is a difference between a terrorist and a mass killer.

They are recruiting citizens to do these acts, which is even more frightening. Several people in the NY area have been arrested recently, and all were citizens from what I understand.

Jonda, did you read about the son of a Boston Police Chief who was arrested this last week because of ties with ISIS? It is disgusting what is going on. It is disgusting how "our people" can turn their faces and kill. Are they not handed enough opportunities here?

I'm simply saying that we have been at increasing risk for random mass shootings by violent people with guns for years, and not many people seemed to be that upset about it. Three days after it's out of the public consciousness. They are either all acts of terror or not. I don't care what the name of the shooter is.

The Church Shooter was a hater of blacks. The Muslim shooter is a hater of the USA. It was said in the Church shooter incident that it was a hate crime due to race, but we are tip toeing around the Muslim shooter. Oh wait, the lone shooter on a rampage.

You must have missed the massive posts here and on Facebook and many other websites that have popped up whenever one of these horrible acts takes place. I absolutely disagree with your perception that not many people are upset about it.

If they were, they'd be lobbying for tougher gun laws. Everyone is upset about the actual events.

But you know that not everyone believes the solution is tougher gun laws, so you can't fairly judge their level of upset by whether or not they lobby for those.

You know what upsets me the most that we lost 4 Marines yesterday! They couldn't defend themselves. One had two purple hearts..

It's pretty clear that "these people" does not refer to "people with guns." I'm a fairly intelligent, well-educated woman. And I read "these people" as "people the government are watching because they pose a threat to society."
Your assumption was not "pretty clear" to me.
Oldpeanewname mentioned it. That could be where she got it from. Not the OP?

Do you think people that are hell-bent on committing terrorist acts are going to change their minds because of a gun law? That murder is perfectly moral but one simply cannot buy a gun illegally?
