Yeah, I don't like it either. A neighbor, that I barely know and am friends with there, asked me for a ride to work after she'd locked her keys in the car. On the way, she said, "I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin." Last week, my cousin died, and I didn't say anything about it on MY page, so the only way she would have known was to be looking at my posts on some of my other cousin's pages. It weirded me out. If one of those people has their settings set to "friends of friends" or "public" your comments would have made the post appear in your neighbor's newsfeed, just like any one of your own status updates would. Yes, exactly. This thread made me realize how much people really don't understand how FB works.
It's called engagement. If you engage in a post by liking it, or commenting on it and their (the person that they comment on) has open privacy settings, the odds are good that you'll see it in your newsfeed (and you'll also see it in the stalker feed). FB decides what you'll see and don't see so the more you comment or like on a businesses posts, the more that you'll see their posts. The more that your FRIENDS will see their posts. And on top of all that, if your friend likes say, the Washington post, and you don't, you might still see the Washington post's posts because they are paying to advertise to their fans friends. (suggested post).
I know this, because I've done it.
The thing is, it's social *networking*. They are trying to find ways for you to like new things and make new friends because it really does make them more money. I try to remember it's a free platform so I'll take the annoying bits with it when I can't filter them out on my own.

I actually started liking news articles so that I don't have to share it on my page. That way if you visit my page, you don't see a bunch of daily articles I like. lol I like them because I find them light and interesting and want my friends to see them as well.

I don't see this stalker feed. I logged in on my computer and it isn't there. Where is it?

I really, really don't care if someone on my friends list gets offended by something I "like" on facebook. It is my own profile, I will "like" whatever I want. If that offends someone, they are free to remove me. In fact I have this one high school classmate who keeps friending me, deleting me, and then re-adding me back to her friends list. It is bizarre but I assume she does it so she can stalk on my page, it is pretty locked down for people I'm not friends with.

I also don't see the stalker feed. I only started using FB a few months ago and only have a small number of friends, 30some, I think. I'm wondering if that's why I don't have it? I do get "liked" pages in my newsfeed but don't mind it; I figured they're just showing me something so I don't have to see the same post forever if no one I know is on that day.

It's not a new feature. I've had it for years. Like others said, it only shows up on my desktop, not on any of my mobile devices. But I agree with the consensus that it definitely makes me always reconsider the things I like and comment on because I know everyone will see them...

It's in the top right hand corner but only on an actual PC. It doesn't show up on mobile devices. It scrolls recent updates tht your friends have liked or commented on.

I hate it because periodically someone I really like and respect will "like" something so offensive and asinine that I have a hard time looking at them the same way. I'm sure those people feel equally upset by some of the things I like, of course.

I hate that thing too. It affects how I engage on FB. No one needs to know what I'm saying or doing everywhere on FB. They also don't need to know how long I've been on FB, or when was the last time I logged on. I turned mine off. I know it only means I can't see what other people are doing- they can still see my activity. But it stopped irritating me so much.

If I'm looking at the right spot, I have trending news articles there. I'll check dh's later; I think his page looks different than mine for some reason.

I don't see it either. Along the right side, there are 2 white boxes: One says Your Pages and the other says Trending.
Thanks for the warning. I didn't realize all my Likes were being shared with my Friends.

Umm...I know how Facebook works. Perhaps I didn't word what I was saying well. I was just weirded out at the moment that someone I didn't really know well knew something about me that I hadn't shared myself. I knew right away that she'd seen posts on the feed and read them, as I've seen other peoples' posts in the same way. It was just sort of surprising and I wish that Facebook just kept some of that stuff off the feed.
