I'm counting on the power of the scrapping Peas to help me find some kind of modular storage cubes that will hold Iris or Options type bins. I've gotten to the point with my unpacking and organizing where most of my stuff is sorted more or less by theme into bins, mostly Iris and Options plastic ones but also some Karen Foster snap together boxes and some Romanoff boxes that are similarly sized. I'd like to store the bins in a closet in my studio where they'll be accessible but not out in the light most of the time. I have a stack of four cubes (roughly 16x16x16 outer dimensions) that I bought from Target years ago tucked in a corner of my studio and they work fabulously for this purpose. I have my most worked on projects in bins in these cubes, but they have been discontinued long ago so I can't get any more like them. I would like to get the equivalent of eight cubes so I have a little room for expansion. I used CIS cubes to make my island years ago and the bins all fit in those, but I believe they are discontinued now too. The Recollections cubes at Michael's and the ones Hobby Lobby sells will hold 12x12 stuff but are not big enough to hold the bins. I suppose I could buy a regular shelf and stick it in there, but most of them aren't deep enough and I think it would be easier to wrangle the cubes into the closet than a completely built shelving unit. These are the Target cubes and what I want to replicate inside the closet. Any ideas of anything you've used that will fit bins like this?

Michaels has a rolling cart that holds 7 of these. It looks like the white cubes, only bigger. It is 30 inches high and 15.5 inches across. I bought it because it also holds the larger Art Bins that snap shut also. It will even hold the double tall Art Bins if you leave out a shelf. You don't have to put the wheels on and I am sure you could stack them to five feet tall.
ETA: This cart would look a lot like what you have already.

Check out the better homes and gardens cube storage shelves at wal-mart. They are sort of a knock-off of the expedit/kallax shelves. They come in a couple different configurations. I actually use the bins that fit in them to transport the iris boxes, and they fit 4 in one bin.

I was looking at that at JoAnn's, and they might work with my Options bins but I'm sure it won't fit the Romanoff boxes (15" wide) or the Karen Foster boxes (only 13.25" wide but 4" tall) that I already have, and I have a lot of them. I don't have any of the ArtBins, they're probably the only kind I don't have! LOL I hope I can find something that will fit the bins I already own so I don't have to spend even more money on something else to make it work.

Thanks for the suggestions, I looked online and it looks like the interior dimensions for both the Kallax and the BH&G shelves will be too small. The Iris / Options bins are about 14" wide and the Romanoff boxes are even wider at just under 15" wide across the top. The search continues.

The IKEA Kallax shelves are too small to hold the Iris boxes.
It's fairly easy to build shelves. Or, IKEA has some book shelves that are deep and a couple of different sizes. I know the Billy shelves come in a deep size. Maybe you could make one of them work for you?

I'll check out the Billy. I'm kind of limited by height as well. The closet has a wall to wall shelf inside that I don't really want to remove if I can help it that's about 64" up from the floor. Anything taller than that and I'll have to take out the shelf or move it up higher which would be a hassle.

Couldn't get the color I wanted from the store. Fingers crossed that they come soon and undamaged.

We had a thread recently (maybe a month ago?) about these BHG cube storage/knockoff Kallax shelves and I could swear someone said the interior cube dimensions given on the Walmart website were wrong and that they were actually larger than was given. It was in the context of whether or not it would hold 12x12 albums and that it does in fact hold them. A 12x12 album is bigger than 14 inches. I hope someone who has the shelves sees this and can test it out for OP.

I know the Billy shelves come in a deep size. Maybe you could make one of them work for you? Ha ha, yes it is. I call my shelving guy and have him come install a custom sized shelf in the closet. Turns out the Billy shelves are only about 11" deep, so the bins would hang off the front quite a bit. With my luck, I could see that spelling disaster at some point when I'm trying to get one of the bottom bins in the stack out and everything else dumps. I thought this this was going to be a lot easier than it's turning out to be! I really hoped one of the stores would have something that would work. Last time I wanted to do something like this years ago, I just went to JoAnn's (well, a few of them!) with my fistful of 50% off coupons until I had 16 cubes. Later, my friend told me about the Target cubes when they were on clearance for $5 each and I drove around to every Target around me and bought up as many as I could find. Now no one has the bigger cubes and the smaller ones that are stocked in stores won't fit my organizers. I have a bunch of shelf units from my old studio but they're particle board junk, they're not deep enough and the shelves are all warped from holding loads that were way too heavy. I'm so done with that. I'd like to be done with the plastic junk too with the drawers that don't close, etc. Before I go to the trouble of building something myself, I seriously will think about having the closet guy come back who made all of my other wall shelving and give me a quote. That thought is sounding better and better every minute.

Have you checked out closet shelving at Lowe's or Home Depot? I have some old Closet Maid shelving in my studio closet. It's nice and deep, and I have Iris boxes on some of the shelves.

I hope someone who has the shelves sees this and can test it out for OP. I remember reading that thread, and seeing the pics. I'll do a quick search and re read, but I believe it was the height and depth that was the issue and not the width. I have custom shelving installed above my desk that holds 12x12 albums and I think the shelves are spaced 13" apart and 15" deep so they do fit. The albums I have are about 12.5" tall so they would fit in a Kallax/BH&G shelf. Albums would also fit in the cube I just bought at Hobby Lobby today too which measures about 14" across (outer dimensions, thin wood that's maybe 1/2" thick at best). However, the Iris, Options, Karen Foster and Romanoff storage boxes I use to hold my scrapbook supplies are all wider than that. The CIS cubes I have in my island and the old Target cubes both have an inner dimension of almost 15"x15"x15" which is what I really was hoping to find. The Karen Foster boxes are the narrowest at 13.25" wide, Iris and Options are both 14" wide and Romanoffs run almost 15" wide at the top so none of them will fit in the Kallax or similarly sized shelves even though an album would.

The shelves on the Michaels rolling storage are 3 7/8 inches high. You don't have to put all of the shelves in it though. It wouldn't be wide enough for 15 width though.

Okay, so this isn't pretty, but what about cinder block shelves? They'll be in a closet! I first used them in a small walk in closet in college. Since then they have been relegated to the family room, bedrooms, and now the basement. I think you could stack about four iris cases on top of each other. All you need is some cinder blocks from a home improvement center. You can have them cut down a 2x4 to your specifications. You could lay the blocks on their sides if you need less height. You could still fit one iris case by itself and have room for more to the side on the same shelf. The little "cubbies" from the cinder blocks are nice for storing small things like pens. The cases may hang over the edge of the 2x4 a bit, but I don't think there would be a problem with them falling off. Here's a picture

I have Kallax, and the Iris cases don't fit. I wish they did. Right now my Iris' are just hanging out on top of the shelves.

Hmmm. I think the cinder blocks would take up too much room in what's already a pretty cramped space, but it was a good thought. I'd also be afraid that my somewhat accident prone kid would somehow manage to topple the whole thing over and get hurt. The Sam's Club shelf on wheels reminds me that we have one of those in the garage (full of junk, of course!) and I'm pretty sure it's too tall and I'd have to monkey around with the existing shelf in the closet that I would rather not have to remove or alter. I have a plastic shelf like the Walmart one still camping out at our old house that I probably could go get from my brother. I'm not sure about putting that much weight on a plastic shelf though since those bins will be really heavy once they're full. And the Iris cart won't work for some of my existing bins that I would like to continue using, as mentioned up thread. But all of these new suggestions have made me think about some other options, and I think I have an adjustable wire shelf unit that I'm not using at the moment that I could use temporarily until I can come up with something a bit heavier duty. For right now, I think I have something like 16 bins I want to put in there. I'm not sure if two bins would sit side by side on the shelves, but for now they wouldn't have to. I could make the shelf as tall as will fit under the existing shelf. I think the side rails are about 15" tall and they screw together, so four of them connected would slip right under the shelf that's already there. The shelves slide down over the rails so they wouldn't add any extra height to the assembled unit. I think I'm going to email my closet guy and see what he would charge me to build a shelf to my specs that would hold two stacks of bins with adjustable shelves and with a center support, and set up the wire shelf I have for now just to get the stuff off of my counters and out of the way. All of this clutter is killing my creativity, and I'm hoping to get back to work by the time my kid starts school at the end of August. If the quote for the custom shelf is less than $300, I'll just have him do it. He does such a great job and the units he makes are very high quality and could be made to the exact size I want so it would really be worth it in the long run. This has been awesome, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for all of your great suggestions! It's so helpful to have others to bounce ideas around with who have an idea of what I'm wanting to do and who know firsthand the products I'm talking about! You ladies are the best.
