I'm with lucyg and Z*G. I have never understood how and why so many women love this movie. Not trying to be rude or snarky. I just don't get the love for this movie. :::shrug::: different strokes for different folks I guess.

We visited rodeo drive as part of a tour a few years back, I was so excited and wanted to get into the Reg Bev Wil (I can totally hear Kit saying that while writing it with lipstick) The bus driver told us just go use the toilets, so of course I dragged hubby in and we got a ton of pictures Edited to add that this is in my top 4 of favourite movies, I can not even begin to count how often I have watched this movie.

So I was 9 when this movie came out. My grandma took me to see it in the theatre (my parents were pissed). I promptly decided my goal in life was to become a prostitute (which made my parents even more pissed). You can't argue with the fact that this movie glorifies prostitution. The relevant question is why are most women ok with the fact that this movie glorifies prostitution. Oh- but I can argue with that 'fact'. If it's your opinion- fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But that's all it is.

My daughters have no interest in the movies my husband and I loved when we were kids! Although I recorded For Keeps a couple weeks ago, but completely forgot what it was about. Well, the kids started watching it when we weren't at home and had a good laugh at the beginnining. They didn't watch past that. But they got mad when I deleted it before they could watch it. Teen girls have a strange since of humor my husband always says!

I've never seen Pretty Woman, just a couple of clips. Don't say I didn't warn you. Not just a prostitute but a Hollywood Blvd streetwalker. I get grossed out just thinking about it. But clearly, I am in the minority here. Who gets all offended when Jason Alexander's character wants some time with her . Yeah, I'm not a fan of the premise but do like Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. myshelly LOL I can just imagine how happy your parents were to hear your career goal. It would have made a great read for a teacher assigned "what do you want to be when your grow up" essay.

I would not say it glorifies prostitution in anyway, I would say it is more of doing what you have to do to get on, then meeting someone who changes your life forever. It is about people who come from different back grounds and it shows that no matter what we are or are doing we really are all the same, everyone just needs a chance.
With that said, I would not sit with my 8yr old and watch it, She does not need to see someone going down on someone else, I do not even want to answer those questions right now LOL.
