I'd be curious to hear where you live that you're seeing these...I haven't noticed any around here but I don't go out much. (I'm north of Boston, near the NH border) I'm in Southern California. cakediva the pixie ear thing is very real. When I was searching for images for the OP, quite a few pixie ears came up along with a lot of extreme tattoo/pierce/gauged and modified people. penny I noticed the stitching on the guy's ear too and agree he probably had gauges. The info on this guy also said he was a nursing student who had the implants removed from his ear ridge after a couple of years. happymomma your hair is so gorgeous I wouldn't dread it. We have a few friends that have had dreads over the years (and no problem with cleanliness) but when they were done they shaved their heads and started over from scratch. I'm not sure how easy it is to grow them out without having to go for a super short haircut.

I dislike short hair on me because it just doesn't feel feminine at all. I do know that dreadlocks aren't dirty just because they're dreadlocks. Are some people's? Yep. Just like some people don't keep their straight or curly or short or long hair clean. I'd wanted dreads since 1994, but couldn't have them because of a strict appearance policy at my job. When I retired I researched them extensively including the different methods of making them. I was all set to do it and got my hair colored one last time to prepare to start the process. Well, my SIL who is my stylist gave me such a pretty color and trim I just wanted to keep it that way for awhile lol. They're pretty impossible to take out without damaging your hair so it'd be chop chop. I'm just not ready to do that and start the growing out process all from scratch. My goal instead is to grow my hair down to my butt! I'll continually mess around with colors though because it's so fun! P.S. I'd still love to get pixie ears! I probably never will but I think they'd make me smile! Yes I'm weird, but I embrace my weirdness.

I've never noticed any implants like that, but they probably are worn by those around me. I'm just not the most observant person on Earth. Gauges are not attractive, in my opinion, so I choose not to wear them. I tend toward more conservative dress & appearance, so I am not very into tattoos, piercings (other then one in each earlobe), and different modifications. I guess I'm a fuddy duddy and not "with it." No you're not a fuddy duddy! Everyone just has different likes and dislikes as well as their own sense of style. As long as you're comfortable in your own skin, you're all good!

Well, since my reaction to the pictures was, "what the hell is that," I'm gonna say no.
I've got to say, I think I might like that better than the ginormous gauge holes in the ears though. Those creep me out and I judge the person instantly. If I current friend did it, I might deal, but I wouldn't become friends with someone who had already done it before I met them

Gag. I'm in the "that makes me want to vomit" camp. I'm generally pretty laissez-faire about that kind of thing since it's their body, not mine, but I really do feel sick looking at those. Gauges make me feel the same way.

Those pictures are creepy! It looks like a baby's foot in the ear. I haven't seen anything like that around here, so I didn't know that existed. I don't like gauges either. I guess I am old and not up to date on the trends! But not my body, so it doesn't matter what I think! Ewwww baby's foot- now I see it ewwww My lobes have stretched so much from large earrings, I shudder to think what the gauge wearers will have in their 50s. Maybe tie them above their heads? I can totally see myself having gotten the star and heart implants- oh to be 21 again!
