Sometimes watching these shows I feel like I was the only bride that went into the shop with a checklist. I knew what looked good on me and what I was looking for. I nearly got it and had no alterations, which 26 years ago in a sale is saying something. Most women today do not know what looks good on them in terms of formal dresses because we no longer wear fitted clothes. When you spend your life in yoga pants and t shirts, sundresses, or at most, slacks and a pullover shirt, it doesn't translate into picking out a wedding gown. I don't know if I knew what looked good on me in formal wear but I knew things, like I go blotchy on my chest when I am nervous so cover that. I didn't like to show my arms, so wanted at least 3/4 sleeves. I didn't like over embellished skirts, I actually wanted a plain skirt but it was lace and bead trimmed at the bottom. I was bottom heavy (which is the thing now) and tiny waist so more fitted on top etc. It just seems a lot of these shows they haven't thought of ANYTHING but "oh lets try on lots of dresses".
