This was taken at a recent baby shower for our grandson (in our family we hold them after baby is born). When I saw it, an old Sesame Street song ran through my head. "One of these things just doesn't belong here, one of these things just isn't the same..." They are all so fair and all have blue eyes, while I am even darker than usual with my summer tan and have dark brown eyes. This is my mom, grandson Odin, my son, Mark, and me. I will have to get one with my dad as well, but ds was the only man at the shower. We can put my dad on the other end next to my mom to balance things out. This is our first four generation photo of the four of us, and it is very special to me. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, ladies. He was 7 weeks in that photo (took me a while to get around to downloading and editing). Hard to believe he is 10 weeks old now!

Awwww, that's truly special! You're so lucky to have 4 generations happy and healthy! My Dad's parents died long before I was born, and I only saw my mom's parents twice as they lived across the ocean from us and died when I was young. Beautiful family, Heartcat!

You have a beautiful family!
This just got me thinking and I wonder if we'll ever be able to have a 4 generation photo. My parents are getting older and I had my kids later in life. It would be great if we could have a photo like this one day.

I love generation pictures! We were fortunate to get 5 generations of just females in my family when my girls were born. We also got 5 generation pictures with my grandsons but they were mixed genders.
i can't believe Odin is already TEN weeks old!!

I see two people that look alike! The baby looks just like your son! He looks like he will be so protective of his sweet little boy! So cute. Love seeing pictures of the peas. I hope you are getting to spend lots of time with your grandson.

You might not "look" like the rest, but you absolutely look like family. You can see you in your mom and your son in you. What a treasure!!

What a precious photo!! I was lucky enough to get some 4 generations photos: The girls.... DD, me, my mum and my nanna on Mother's Day every year for about 12 years; The boys.... DS, DSO, FIL and FIL's dad when DS was a baby. I really laughed at this: When I saw it, an old Sesame Street song ran through my head. "One of these things just doesn't belong here, one of these things just isn't the same..."

Thanks so much, everyone. flanz that is too bad about not getting to know either set of grandparents, for either of those reasons. YooHoot, I never saw a resemblance to my mom when I was younger, but now that I am older, and have lost some weight, I do see it. Butterfly Momma, Nicole in TX, finally~a~mama and eleezybeth it is funny, most times I don't think ds looks like me at all, and then sometimes there will be an angle, or a smile, and I can see it. @trezmom I hope that you do, and that you share it here one day. akathy five generations? That is so precious and priceless! (And I love your new avatar photo by the way). maryland I think that Odin looks a lot like Mark too. And Mark is very protective of him, and has been very hands on, which I have been glad to see. AussieMeg how wonderful that you were able to get four generation photos for so long, and to be able to get one at the same time every year. It must be fun to see the progression as the little ones got older. Thanks again, ladies!

I have a girlfriend who was able to get a picture of her newborn daughter, herself, her mother and her grandmother in professional portrait painting right before her grandmother passed. I was always a bit jealous of that...both of my grandparents were either passed (grandmother) or in hospice (grandfather) when my oldest was born. One of the saddest things to me were that my children were unable to know the amazing people my grandparents were. You are so incredibly blessed to have that photo...treasure it.
