I think I have the beginnings of a bunion! I asked about big toe pain a couple of days ago and after doing some more Google image searches - I think the years of ballroom dancing, wearing heels and carrying extra weight has started to catch up with me. I've started massaging that joint with oil and I purchased some toe spacers and a nighttime brace for my toe to wear to try to stop it from getting any worse. BTW - I am planning on seeing a podiatrist still. I have a friend who works for the hospital system and she is going to ask around for who's got a good reputation, etc. Waaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! LOL

Ouchie. I've never had a bunion but I've known others with them and they were so painful. My ex-SIL had surgery for them and looking at her toes in the hospital bed terrified me. Are they something you can avoid surgery on if you catch them in time and take the steps you're taking?

I will tell you that hers were very bad and she had both feet done. I remember that once she was all healed up she said she felt like a million bucks!

I have a bunion on my right foot, and while it's not the most attractive thing, it doesn't hurt any more since I gave up stupidly wearing high heels years ago. I've never even considered surgery.

Getting bunions is my big fear, and while I do have toe issues, bunions isn't one of them. I hope you can get it taken care of.

My older brother's partner had surgery for her bunions, and went right back to wearing stupidly high heels as soon as she could. Personally, I haven't worn high heels since I was in my 20s, and my feet are happy.

Don't feel old. I had bunion surgery on both my feet when I was 24. While the recovery wasn't fun, it's one of the best things I ever did for myself (along with a breast reduction).

Sorry you feel old. Bunions arent only happening when you are old. I'm 49 and have had bunions since I was25 years old. No I didn't wear high heels a lot except for special occasion s and for 4 months when I worked and didn't have any other black dress shoes. But if your toe hurts get so Salonpas I use them for when jine hurt. When we were gold mining a lot and were in the cold creek or river water for hours and hours every day by the end of the day my foot would hurt really bad. I would put one of them on with a sock and about 15 minutes later I would have no pain.
