I have shrunk! Thanks to healthy eating and Bikini Body Mommy 4.0. My work pants were all too big, so I dug deep in my closet for pants I have been holding on to for that one day I lost weight. That one day is today! I do not want to have to buy new pants until I have gone down one more size.
I found two pairs of old khakis that fit well. One pair are considered boyfriend khakis from old navy several, okay many, years ago. They are meant to be cuffed. They have a little distressing, but no holes. Do you think I could wear these to work? I am an elementary school teacher? I am thinking only on Fridays. I am thinking something like this outfit minus the hat. I would also probably need a cardigan for my cool classroom.
Another pair are bootcut khakis from old navy. They fit really well and make me feel tall and slim-ish. Will I look like I work at Best Buy or Applebee's in these? What should I wear with them to be fashionable?
I am a 40 year old school teacher. Thanks.

Yes for sure - first pair sound better than second pair. First pair sound great. I don't really know people who wear full length khakis, but if they are comfortable and you like them go for it.

Well, I'm no fashionista but I think those pants are both perfectly acceptable to wear while teaching. I think if you want to avoid looking like a Best Buy employee, just make sure you don't wear a polo, and accessorize! Congratulations on your new weight! You've been working really hard to make good changes!

I think khakis and a nice top are perfectly acceptable for teaching elementary school. I do like the gold accessories with the black top. I don't know what boyfriend cut is though so am no help there!

Thank you all for the encouragement. I really appreciate it. My dh is not the kind of man to acknowledge things, so it means a lot to have your encouragement.

Great job on the weight loss! It feels great to finally fit into that old stuff you were hanging onto I'll bet!
I read a lot of fashion press and blogs and I've been checking out arrivals for fall on various webstores. It pretty much seems like anything goes; even skinny jeans are hanging in there despite their ability to put people in the hospital, LOL. But I think fashion from the 70s is going to be strong in the upcoming fall and winter season so bootcuts are looking au courant.

Looks better than what I've seen on our elementary school teachers. And I completely support not being dressed to the nines with clumsy little fingers around from paint, pee, snot, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, glue etc. There is a lot of mess in schools.

Congratulations! I know it took work and determination to see this day. The outfit you showed us would be perfectly acceptable in my school setting.

Well done on the weight loss. I think the boyfriend khakis sound fun, I think they'd look good with a plain white tee and a navy cardigan or a coral top and gold accessories. If you wanted them to look smarter a cropped blazer would pull it all together. I'm not sure about the bootcut, maybe a top tucked in and a really great belt with a waist length cardigan worn open or a bright jumper and scarf.

Congrats on your weight loss!
I didn't realize that khakis were out right now. I live in jeans and just yesterday as I was cleaning the hidden corners of my closet I found my khakis form the gap - the classic beige, plus a grey and navy pair. I wondered why I stopped wearing them. I don't know but I am sure it wasn't because I felt they were out of style. I think khakis still look classic and a white tee and cardigan looks very casual, yet put together, especially for teaching when being comfortable and not worrying too much about your outfit is important. The way some of the teachers dress these days makes it hard to figure out who are the student sand who are the adults.
I hope you are down to your next size really soon so you can treat yourself to some new clothes. You deserve it!

My kids school is very, very casual (think yoga pants with flip flops...) You'd look dressed up going to church with khakis! Throw a showy necklace over a top and rock it!
Good job on the weight loss!

I don't think khakis are ever out, you just have to be careful what you are pairing them with so it doesn't look like you are wearing a uniform.
Congrats on the weight loss!!!
