Im debating to get my first spray tan for my class reunion this weekend. I know you are supposed to exfoliate, salt scrub and loofah...?? Any other tips? I just moved to the area so I dont even know where to go.

Okay. I have to recommend the St Tropez mousse over a spray tan booth. You can get it at Ulta and Sephora, buy the application mitt, its only $6. Do all the exfoliating, shaving, etc. I put mine on at night before bed so it develops while Im sleeping. Put lotion on your rough areas, elbows, knees, heels, right before you apply tanner. Its impossibke to eff up. Its not orangey. If i do have any booboos they are easy to fix in the shower using the loofah lightly.

If your class reunion is next weekend, I would suggest not doing it yourself. There is a learning curve and I would hate for you to be all streaky for your reunion.

Moisturise well especially areas prone to dryness like knees, ankles, elbows. Make sure at the end to wipe the tan off properly from your palms - no giveaway like tanned palms! Keep moisturising on following days to keep it smooth and even. There is an art to applying fake tans yourself. I'd go to a recommended po the first time.

I use the St Topez mousse but for your first time, find a reputable spa and get them to do it.
For day to day stuff I do it myself, but for big events (weddings, reunions, vacations) I always go to my local spa and have them apply it. Should something happen they will know how to fix it and I won't have to stress over it.

Out of everything I have tried St Topez is the best of them but it's not fool proof. I have the glove thingy also...exfoliated and lotioned up also. Still have blotches.
I would just go to a salon who knows what their doing and have it done.

I've been applying my own tanners for years - but the salon spray tan is the cats meow. It dries almost instantly and there are no mistakes (missed spots) or streaks. The only disadvantage is cost - one professional spray tan costs about the same a bottle you buy yourself (probably does about 4).
No other tips really. Just be prepared to leave it on to develop before you shower (best to leave it over night).
Have a fun reunion!

I'm a big fan of Fake Bake Flawless self-tanner, but I absolutely would not try for the first time right before a big event. I go to a Pura spray tan booth nearby and it's great. It's part of a tanning bed place (Tan Republic around here). Most tanning salons here have both sunless and beds.
I looked into airbrushed spray tans and they are great, but very expensive. I decided not to go that route.

So if I got it done Friday afternoon it would still be there after a shower on Saturday?

AND if I got it done Friday afternoon, could I go back to work after?

So if I got it done Friday afternoon it would still be there after a shower on Saturday? Yes, it will last for several days. There's usually a bronzer tint to the spray and that will wash off, but the actual self tanner will develop over several hours after the session. And yes, you can definitely go back to work after. I'd just recommend not wearing white next to your skin that day.

FYI...don't go in a hot tub for a day or two after! A friend of mine got a spray tan, and went in a hot tub the next day...soon she was surrounded by gross-looking brown water! It was the spray tan, and the oil in the tan rose to the top and stayed there. She was so embarrassed! !

So I made an appt....but its one where they spray it on you...not like in a booth. Probably going to wear a sleeveless cover up type thing. I dont want my boobs, belly sprayed. Just arms, chest, legs. Oy. WTH am I thinking??! ha

Good - that's the best where a real human sprays you. When I have gone, they say to wear as much or little as you want while they spray. They claim to have seen it all. I've usually worn black underwear to get sprayed. If you have never had one before, they will probably use a 'not too dark shade' of spray that looks really natural. You will love it!

Airbrush spray tan all the way! I wore bikini bottoms and a bra (pulled the straps down) and got a gorgeous tan. They should give you a recommendation before you go in, i.e. no lotion on immediately before, etc. Then they should give you post care instructions. They know how to spray you so you don't get to much tan on areas that are likely to take up too much of the tanning solution.

Get the spray tan - and not the booth one - but the one where you actually get sprayed. I had some insane sports bra tan lines and was in a wedding and the girl was awesome.

Ive done an organic spray tan a few times. The girl I have is amazing. So professional. I just wear old undies and bra that I don't care gets coloured up. I recently bought the St Tropez stuff - glad to hear all the positive comments on it.

I think I wore black panties the first time, but I've gone naked since. It's no different than my waxing lady or my gynecologist.

Just arms, chest, legs. Oy. WTH am I thinking??! ha You'll stand in a booth type thing to protect your surroundings. You'll pay for full body so you might as well have it done. They'll offer you paper knickers, otherwise wear an old pair and keep your own on. Believe me seeing your body is no big deal after the thousands they see. I wouldn't wear a sleeveless top, you'll get funny marks at the shoulder. If you're really shy wear an old bra or something you don't mind getting tanned too but to get the best results it's much easier to be as undressed as possible.

You all have great tips! I need to check into this. The St Tropez is $40+! It's really worth it?! I just went to Amazon to check out the Fake Bake. That price is more my speed.

I'd go in with at least a bra and panties or topless. The overspray will get on your clothes. It is supposed to wash out though but I'd still go in with at least the bra and panties. We spray my daughter before her pageants and she wears panties.
-make sure you don't get wet after. So that means no sweating or getting caught in the rain. -you can shower Sat morning and be fine. -don't freak when it starts coming off after a few days. It isn't the prettiest but it's normal.

I would NOT go the day before your reunion. I have seen some people who look a little too weirdly bronzed in pictures. Google bad spray tans and see for yourself. I would try to do it Wednesday or Thursday or skip it. Better to be pale than look freaky for your reunion.

My kids got spray tans for Homecoming and Prom this past year and they looked great! They got it done a couple days before and just wore underwear. You could also wear and old bikini. The person who did them also does male and female body builders, who don't wear anything. The men and women sprayers in their group have seen it all, so it's no big deal to them.

I prefer where they spray you vs. the booth. Self application would probably be a disaster for me.
