Ladies, I finally got my closet in the craft room completely organized. All I have to do is label the drawers and containers. I have to order some label maker refills on amazon. I have four rows of drawers. The shelve above is full of containers. but nothing is in front of anything. The stuff on the top shelf is stuff I get into seldom and or that didn't fit in the drawers. My paint stuff I need to take with me to classes when I go so it is easier for me to keep them in totes.

Looks good! Are those sliding doors? If so, you have the exact same as me. I took mine out and put up a curtain. So much more "elbow room" to get to my stuff. I sill have the doors in case I have to put them back up.

Yes they are sliding doors. i thought about taking them down but we don't have a safe place to store them. If at any time they do start driving me nuts when I am getting in and out of the closet I will take them down and have husband find a safe place for them even if we have to wrap them and take the to storage. But for now they are fine. I do like how I can close them and that part of the room is neat.
I am amazed at how much stuff I got in there. Those drawers really helped. In our old house our closets were a little bigger but they had 3 staggered shelves with rods and doing drawers would have been a bigger pain then it would have been worth.
All the stuff I have in the drawers were in totes and most of the totes were stacked in piles all over the old craft room. I have no totes in the room except the one I am using as a garbage can because I haven't bought garbage cans yet, in the old room I was using Christmas popcorn cans. When we moved I had to use them for my rock collection.
It feels so good to have no piles of totes any where but in the top of the closet.

You did a great job organizing the closets. I just spent a week going through all my scrapbook items in my closets and basement . I donated boxes and boxes to Goodwill. Someone may think that a craft store closed in the area!

Thank you. I purged a lot of stuff as I was packing to move and I purged more as I was unpacking and organizing.
I still have 2 trays of stuff I have to put in the containers on the shelves that I found as I was organizing.

Great job! Are those stackable bins, or just tall roller bins?

They are the 3 Drawer I took the top off and stacked them to get 24 drawers I bought 8 sets. The shallow drawers are the same thing just a different size drawer. I had 2 sets of them already. I bought 4 sets to complete the stack. The 3 deep drawer stacks are on wheels the shallow one is not. I do wish the shallow ones came with wheels.

So looking forward to doing this! We are moving in August to a 3 bedroom house with basement from a stuffed 2 bedroom apartment. The extra bedroom will be a craft room and I am so excited to start getting my stuff out again. It has been packed away for 2 years, way too long! I like looking at what others are doing so I can get some ideas...

Ok..... My Rock collection. We started camping when daughter was in the first grade and started gold mining when she was in the 3rd grade. when we were out in the boonies and or digging for gold I would come across interesting rocks. So I would pick them up and take them back to camp. I started bringing them home. I have found some really nice ones throughout the years. I was bringing home so many of them my husband had to limit me to size, I had to be able to carry them. Because one time I saw a rock. It was very big. not a boulder but still big. I asked him if he would carry it for me. HE tried to pick it up and it was that big. it is probably still where it was that day I wanted to bring it home.
I have many rocks. I have one that is shaped like a steak. I have black onyx, Oregon Jade, Garnets (they are very tiny bit still mine), I have rocks that are pretty, I got rocks that are ugly but cool shapes. I have heart shaped rocks I have tiny rocks and I have a few big rocks That I had a hell of a time carrying back to camp. We have Oregon sun stones. Daughter found one that is worth about $3000 in its raw form and it will be worth much more once cut into a jewelry grade stone. We have some that are not worth near that much but are jewelry worthy. My rocks have gotten me into trouble. My rocks have brought fun to me and daughter.
We have a couple crates full of rocks. We have a Christmas popcorn can full of them. I have a rock tumbler that I have tumbled and polished a bunch of the rocks. I have jars full of small rocks.
I have a rock that we call The Gadget pee rock. Because it is larger than he is and when we first got him well the first time he went outside and was actually walking on the ground he was 4 months old. this rock was in our yard. It was the first thing he peed on and every day after that he peed on that rock. Doesn't matter where we put it he found it and peed on it. Every time we move it we have to wash it first. Then skip came along and no he pees on it too. there is another rock they like peeing on but it is the heart rock.
We found rocks on the beach we have found rocks in the mountains we have found rocks everywhere we have been. and they all come home and go into our collection. My daughter and I have loved collecting rocks.
One time we had a camp set up with friends that were gold mining all summer. We would go down Friday after husband got off work and come back on Sunday night. We had to go down at the end of the summer and pack up our camp. We had started bringing stuff back but we still had the tent and some other stuff there so daughter and I were going to go get it one day. no big deal drive the 2 1/2 hours (which was a really nice drive) and get the stuff maybe an hours work. Then drive home. nice day. We had our lunch and lots of water in our cooler in the back of the truck. We started down the road. Stopped for gas. Got back in the truck. got back on the road. Truck died. Called husband. He came to save the day but couldn't get it to start so we towed it back to the shop which was at the other end of town. So we left it there. Got in our other truck and headed down the road. half way to camp we figured out that we left cooler in the other truck. by this time the day was half over and we still needed to get to camp and out of there by dark, I wasn't going to be in the boonies in the mountains in North California in the dark with NOBODY with me but a little girl. so we stopped in the little town we had to drive through and got a hotdog and a couple bottles of water. then we continued on our way. Got to camp It was left a big mess by the people we were camped with so we had about 3 hours work cleaning it all up. Got it done finally after running out of water. Did I say it was summer in Northern California 100 degrees out. so we finally head back down the mountain. We get to a little store. I call husband. I have no cell phone and if I did it didn't work there anyway.
So I call him let him know that I got off the mountain and I am headed back to town, Remember I broke on truck that day. so he is at work with no truck. I am driving his way and will meet him at the shop. So We drive. I am telling daughter that one way or another I will make this day fun. So we have to go up and over this mountain to get home. so all summer long we passed these really awesome rocks on the mountain and we kept telling each other we were going to stop one day and pick some up. Well,,,,, you got it we stopped, It was almost to the top of the mountain. gathered some rocks. Man were they pretty. green and grey and swirly. beautiful shapes too. so we get in the truck and I start it up. no problem. Then I try to put it in drive but I hear a large SNAP! The gear shifter knob broke off somewhere in the steering column. So we are stuck on the dam mountain. No cell phone. and even if we did have one with us there was no cell service. so We sit there. we think. We decide I have to get out and flag the next car down. because come on girls it is the boony mountains of Northern California where we might see 3 cars a day. so It was about an hour later when we see a car, I jump out of truck wave down the car. The young couple in the car was very nice and took my husbands phone number and called him when they got to the little town. We sit and wait because we are still 1 1/2 hours from home and we have no idea if these people really called husband or not. So we sit and wait. It gets dark. Daughter started freaking out because of all the wild animals on the mountain. Bear, Dear, mountain lion. you know the scary animals at night. So we sit and wait. and then we see it. Headlights coming toward us. SO now daughter is really freaked. Because it could be a really bad person. OR it could be husband. But how would he get there. He has no truck. so then the lights slow down and the vehicle starts turning toward the side of the road where we are stuck. It was freaky for about 2 minutes. Head lights are directly in front of us and they stopped. We could not see who was getting out of the vehicle until the figure of a large man comes toward the front of the vehicle. It was my husband and a friend of ours they come to save the day. I was never so happy to see him in my life. he said he got this weird phone call from a guy that said wife is stuck on Page mountain please help. He said the guy said that and hung up. said nothing else. so any way He had to crawl under truck to put it in drive so I could drive home. He said go to shop. SO I flew up and over that dam mountain and never looked back. I didn't stop except for stop signs and lights until I got to the shop. Then I stopped only to hold the brake so that husband could get in and drive the rest of the way home. that was the last time I was on that mountain.
When we go through California now we go I-5. no boonies for me there.
But damn it we did get some beautiful rocks that day.....

What a great story. Here's mine. Our family does some rock collecting as well. I gave my oldest my rock collection which I had started in first grade. After the fact, I kind of wish I had waited because I don't know if it will get the same TLC I gave it. In three different states we've hunted for Herkimer Diamonds, fairy crosses and garnets. I can't remember what state we mined quartz in. I have some garden sized quartz - talk about a sore back.

eastcoastpea, It sounds like you love rocks. I really need to do something with my rocks to get them out of the crates. I need to take a corner of the yard and make it my rock garden. I just haven't come up with what I want to do. In the old house I had them along the wall to the hill but most of them got covered by the ground cover that took over that area. I had to really hunt for them when we moved. I knew how many I had there so I could count them as I gathered them up.
I have some quartz but it is small. We have some small gold nuggets as well. It was fun mining but it got to political with the State of Oregon and the mining permit laws. I do miss going out and finding cool rocks.
I have a big jar of sun stones that I want to polish up and do something with they are not jewelry quality but I can at least put them in something nice looking as display them. Daughter has a amethyst I think she won it at a rock and gem show we went to one year. it's amount 2 inches by 3 inches but it is pretty.
If your oldest likes rock I am sure he will give it the TLC it deserves.

The closet looks great. I love that you can access everything without moving something else.
I love, love, love your rock stories. I pick up rocks all the time. I have a big bowl of them on my coffee table.
When I was a little girl, my sister and I were collecting rocks with mica on them in the Black Hills. My dad said we couldn't bring them home, but we hid them all over the camper, wherever we could find a spot. I had them for years. My poor mother probably had to pitch them when they sold their house.

I have a bunch of the mica rocks. I also have fools gold. That is all over the creeks in our area. but usually where there is fools gold there is real gold. just got to go deeper. I remember one trip I was dredging and It was really sandy. I had a small little dredge and husband had his bigger dredge. He was in his hole and I was in mine. We were there with some of the members of our mining club and I flipped my dredge upside down. It was the end of that motor for the weekend. Thank god one of our friends had a spare. He had brought both his dredge and his high banker with him. Husband and friend set it up so friends motor was on the shore and I could dredge. My little dredge got a good amount of gold that weekend. But no body could get me out of the water. that is until the thunder storms came. I was one of the first ones out of the water. When we finally got back into the water a couple days later we were checking all of our dredges and I had found these tiny tiny red bead looking things. Come to find out that they were garnets. I was so excited. until I found out that they were so small that they weren't worth anything. I was bummed but I brought them home in a gold vile and kept them. And the story of me sinking my dredge still goes down in history. There has been people we have told the story to that have been dredging for 20 or 30 years and never heard of some one flipping and or sinking their dredge. I am happy with my closet. I am hoping that I can get the rest of the little stuff put away soon so I can start having some fun scrapping. I still need to hang pictures on the wall. I want to frame a few of our fuzzy posters and make the books. I have 3 small shelves I want to hang up some where in here just need to figure out where. I will never have piles of totes hanging around again. That is my goal anyways. Nicole, I would love to see pictures of your clean craft room when you get it all done. Mikklyn, I would love to make a box (well have husband make a box) for my coffee table so I can put some of my rocks in it. I think it would be a nice center piece. I put our special golf balls in a basket and put it on the dining room table. That is our golf room. We have quite a bit of Golf stuff. I want husband to make a box or wood bowl for them. Yeah I had to hide some of my rocks to get them home. Husband finally had to set a limit to the amount of rocks we got each trip. But I usually went way past that limit. When we went on our road trip through Yellowstone and to Cody Wyoming daughter and I found some rocks but we hadn't really started our "rock collection" then but we did bring some rocks home. I guess you could say that is when it started because it was shortly after that when it really started. talk about the pee rock I need to take it into the back yard. when we moved we put it the movers put it in the front yard because they didn't know where I wanted it and at the time I couldn't carry anything that heavy. Not that it is really heavy but it was shortly after my surgery. Here are some of the smallest rocks I have Here are my unpolished sunstones Here is a close up of the sunstones
