I am relatively new to facebook. I prefer to use it to see real posts from my friends about what they are up to and keep up on what's going on in their world. I have a couple friends that clog up my feed with silly cartoons on quizzes and such. If there were just a few posts here or there that would be fine, but it seems like these 2 friends spend most of the day posting this silly stuff.
If I "unfollow" them, do they know it? Will they still see my posts just the same? If I go to their wall and like or comment on one of their posts, will it be any different? I would like to just be able to go to their wall once every day or 2 and post a couple comments and do a few likes, so they know I am interacting with them, but I do not want their posts muddying up my feed.
I have heard people use the term "hide"...is this the same as "unfollow"? If not what is the difference?
Any advice? Thanks so much!
Julie

No they will not know that you have unfollowed them. Their posts will not show up on your news feed any more and you can go to their page at your leisure and see everything they have posted and shared.

I know that you can hide all facebook game entries . But I am not sure if you can hide cartoon stuff without hiding the whole person.

You can hide some of the quizzes and silly posts. There should be an arrow type icon to the right of the post. Click on that and you will be given options. Most times you will be given the option to no longer see posts from the source or you can choose see fewer posts like this.

What Basketdiva said. I have several friends and relatives who are uber Christians, as in 9 of 10 posts are Christian posts. It's their page they can post what they want but I don't want to read all of that. So I use the little arrow and tell FB to stop sending me their posts from where ever and boom, they are not being sent anymore. The only ones that keep reappearing are those stupid ones that FB creates, those Timehop and memory ones. They go away but they come back after a week or two so I have to hide them again.
