I was telling husband that I have to go to the library today. I have a couple books on hold for me. He asked me a few questions about if I can search for books online. I said yes. I explained it to him. He was all excited. He has been looking for a couple books he can't find. so now he is thinking he wants a library card. But because of his work schedule and the weird library hours I will be the one who picks them up most of the time. so Should I just put them on my account and pick them up with my card or will the library let me take his card and pick them up for him.
Our libraries are open crazy hours.

Everything at my library is self serve so they never know what card I use. The only thing I have to check is which account (mine or kids) requested the book on hold. Only the requesting account can pick it up.

My library has no checkout limit, so I would just put it on my card.

If I were you I would put them on mine. I would not want to worry about a second card.

okay, that is kinda cute! (I wish my BF wanted to read anything enough to get a library card!) I would think you could use his library card with no problem if you're using the self-checkout area, but you might get a question if there's something from inter-library loan and you have to actually get it from a librarian, for example. You could just call and ask what their policy is for using a family member's card, if you're going to be picking things up for him.

You can get him a library card but still check out the books he wants on yours.

I have to go there today to pick up my books i have on hold. I will ask. This is a question my daughter would know the answer to... She has picked my books up for me before but she is a girl. and she is a student and she goes through the student side so they know her there.
We do have self check out but you still have to pick up the books on hold from the librarian counter.

I have to go there today to pick up my books i have on hold. I will ask. That DOES make more sense .... to ask the library, instead of a bunch of ladies who don't live in your town to speculate on your library's policies.
