Weird I have no idea what would do that.
But so you dont feel alone: I have a burn scar on my arm from 5 years ago and usually I have to point it out to someone to see it. It's usually a very thin white line that disappears into the fold of my elbow. But to today it's huge, raised and ugly red., and itches like crazy. I was wondering if maybe it was due to the heat. I'm out in the heat a lot now that I'm working full time. Anyway I figured I'd give mine a few days to see what it did if it wasn't better Id call the Dr.
Hope your gets better soon!

Mine is 19 yrs old, and I occasionally get that. It's mainly in the summer, when it's hot, and you sweat there, and don't get it dried off. Just shower, and pat it dry, and keep it dry during the day. You can pat it dry when ever you go to the bathroom. Some people use powders to keep it dry, but I find, just keeping it dry the redness will go away.

I have a c-section scar. I have never ever had any issues. You should probably contact your doctor.

You might have just rubbed it raw while exercising. Maybe it's just oozing from being rubbed against by your shorts or whatever you were wearing.

It might be cellulitis. Draw a line with a permanent marker so you can see the margins and look at it in the morning. If it's still red, go to the dr. ASAP!!! I had an abdominal incision from surgery and got cellulitis 3 years later from "wound dehiscence" (think I spelled that right?)...anyway my dr said something deep in my abdomen just never healed and formed an abscess that eventually drained out through my scar! Fortunately, I didn't have to be admitted to the hospital for antibiotics because we caught it in time, but many people do have to go in for IV antibiotics.

I get it now & then too. Usually when I'm being active & sweating a lot. My scar is 11 years old.

I think the redness is somewhat normal--from the heat or clothes rubbing on it, yes, but I don't think drainage is normal at all.

I'd be concerned about the drainage.
I have a friend whose episiotomy split after 11 years. It was "pushed" open by an abscess. Her experience has made me pretty cautious about changes in my scars.

14 years old is mine and this has happened to me a few times over the year. I think it is like a heat rash. I keep it clean and dry and sometimes pat with a little peroxide to help dry it up.

15 years here. Mine gets itchy and sometimes a bit puffy and red. Same for my sister but only 14 years for her. But never draining. I'd call the doctor about that!

Mine does the red or itchy thing sometimes, particularly in the hottest months, but except for when DS was first born and I had an infection at the incision, I have never had drainage. For my own peace of mine I would call my doctor in that situation. I hope it's something minor and clears up quickly for you.

I've had that before.
I wouldn't exactly say drainage, but a very moist, wet feeling.
I used anti-fungal (one I got at the Dollar Tree that says it is to treat Athlete's Foot) cream on it after washing it thoroughly. Then laid on my back to let it air dry with the scar having only contact with air (yes, I have tummy fat that hangs over it).
Mine was noticeably better within one day with the antifungal cream on it, and that's how I knew it was a yeast infection.
I've heard of women getting yeast infections under their breasts if they are very large and sweaty. It happens.
I hope you feel better soon.

that does NOT sound right. I have 2 c section scars, never have I had anything -red, itchy, draining- at all in any conditions. the draining particularly seems worrisome. I would get that checked out asap! :/

Drainage? I would definitely call the doctor! Btw, mine is 16, and I have never had a rash, itch or anything from it.

I had the same thing a couple of summers ago. I decided it was yeast because of the burning, so used a fungicide (I think it was my son's athlete's foot cream) and it cleared up quickly. Now I always swipe the towel across it after my shower and it hasn't happened since.

So don't y'all go criticizing yourself for something that just "is". This is not a handslap it's a "You are beautiful!" And boob sweat is just gross. Lots of women have hang over from that and it is pretty gross as well! I also would wash it with soap and use a hair drier on it. I was told to do this when I got athlete's foot years ago. Wash with soap and dry with a hair drier.

My scar does that sometimes. If I dry with the hair dryer after bathing and apply Gold Bond powder, it keeps it at bay. If it doesn't improve, see the doctor.

I had something similar to this a couple months ago. Mine is 15 years old, I thought it was reopening. It wasn't, just really irritated. I used peroxide a few times a day and made sure it was really dry after showering. (I used my hairdryer!) After doing this for about a week it cleared up and all is well.

I had 3 c-sections and am not familiar with what you're describing. I would hustle my buns to the doctor and have it checked out, it does sound like an infection. (Itching & redness are the hallmarks of infection.)

Sorry for delay in replying but I could not type this whole thing out on my phone and this is the first chance I have had to get to the computer. You should go and get this checked out as soon as possible if you haven't already! I had an infection in my C-section scar when my youngest was 16 years old. Do you know how embarrassing it is to go to urgent care (it happened on a weekend of course) at age 51 and when they ask what you need to be seen for have to say an infected C-section scar? Of course then they ask how long ago you had your baby! Ummm, 16 years ago! Anyway, mine was caused by an infected hair follicle that they think grew in instead of out.
TMI below:
The doctor had to open up my scar a little bit in order to drain it, then he had to put some packing stuff in there to keep it open, allow it to drain, and to make it heal from the inside out. I had to go back a couple more times to have the packing replaced and gradually it did heal from the inside. I had to go on antibiotics too. It's been fine since, but it was important to go in and get it checked and taken care of. Hope you are feeling better!

My myomectomy scar's never done this. It's become very irritated when I was much more overweight and I just naturally sweated a lot. Now it barely shows. I would go to the MD if this persists.
