I love the whale!! It is adorable! I was thinking of you when I posted this. With all your hand sewing, the whale (and his friends) would be a perfect project for you! I saw that you posted the book where you got the pattern...I plan on spending some time today wandering around pinterest to see if I can find a similar pattern on line somewhere. For some reason I can't get photobucket to cooperate with me today, so I pinned these instead...but here is what I have been working on today/yesterday. (warning, crappy cell phone photos ahead) hand applique onsie and another hand applique

I recently bought myself a simple sewing machine and haven't used it yet. I do have a ton of project pins on pinterest that I want to try. I love that pincushion! There is a project that I pinned that is similar, with the pockets. It's a sewing machine cover/mat similar to THIS

melly how did you do that lettering for the sign? Impressive! Thank you! My sister found a sign like this on Pinterest and sent me the link, saying she wanted something similar. I used that image of the lettering, and added some clip art trees and log slice that I found in google image search. I printed everything out in the size that I needed (I had to piece together 9 pieces of paper) and laid it on top of the wood sign. Then I traced over the top of everything carefully with a ball point pen. When I took the paper off the sign, a very light indentation had been left in the wood by the pressure of the pen. I used a small brush and acrylic paint and filled it all in! It took quite a while, and it was hard to see the indentation at times and I had to make some of it up. I ended up free-handing the tree branches and the little triangle flag banner at the bottom. My sister loves it, so I'm happy! I kind of want to make something similar to hang in my house somewhere!
