My school is adding iPad carts for us to share within departments. Problem is, we can only get the pads for the class times that we've reserved them. So someone that doesn't have an iPad personally is limited on what she can assign. But, sometimes we have people that will buy us items if we request them. I'm going to request an iPad in the hopes that someone feels generous. But I don't know which model to request. I don't need all the bells and whistles. I just need something that won't be terribly outdated in a year. I do have access to Wifi.
Can anyone suggest a model for me?
TIA

I haven't looked at iPads in awhile. Email your tech dept and get the specs on what you'll have access to. Then I'd request that. Why? That way you'll have the same operating system as what you're teaching with.

Thanks. I wasn't even aware that the operating systems would be different enough to matter. But it makes sense since I'll have to consider compatible apps.

You should also check into your school's policy on gifts / donations, especially of technology. I know in my district, there are very strict guidelines.

It it's a new iPad lab, with new iPads, I'd ask for an iPad Air. 32gb at the least. The apps will fill it up quickly. I upgrade from an iPad2 16bg at Christmas (gave it to my DD) to an iPad Air 32gb.
In my classroom, I am running a Mac mini with an Apple TV hooked to my projector and my personal iPad (school is not purchasing iPads for us to use. If we want them, we get to purchase them ourselves.). Hopefully my technology will all come together and work this year. I ordered the TV at the end of this past year and it wasn't there for me to play with when school got out. I also need to figure out how to hook my DVD and VCR to the projector AND get some speakers. My old dinosaur tube TV that has been in my room since I started there 16 years ago is used for sound on the DVD player and my VCR. I'd love to get rid of it!
