It looks like the ones shown on Doodlebug's FB page aren't on that site anymore. Those designs were so similar! How sad. She must be one of those people that think "If I change it 10% I can call it my own design." Um, NO.

I guess this is what happens when kids who always plagiarized in school grow up! Um, you can't just copy someone else's work. That's theft of intellectual property! Unfortunately, unless Doodlebug has the money to pursue legal action, I don't know what they can do about it other than calling them out and hoping a public shaming will do something.

As a mom of a graphic designer/artist, things like this always make me worried for DD's work. She has to post a lot of stuff online for her grad school classes, and I can't help but wonder when/if/how much of her hard work will be copied by others.

That's disgusting. I love Doodlebug.
ETA - The Back to School clip art is from another collection that I have at home. I can't remember the manufacturer, maybe MAMBI?

There was an autumn one that was taken right from a Simple Stories collection I have (and a couple others that looked very similar to some of SS other collections).

How can anyone just do that? Awful! Well, if they are a knockoff, they may also be situated in another country, one that has no regard for our laws. It is disturbing how often this seems to happen.

Posted today on Doodlebug's Facebook Page:
Dear Doodlebug Friends,
I can't begin to express my sincere gratitude for the many, many uplifting comments I have received regarding the unauthorized use and infringement of our designs and art . I have been overwhelmed and emotional over the kind words and undying loyalty you have shown and expressed. I don't think I could ask for anything more. I am so grateful for your love and support.
I truly believe that your combined support has made a huge difference. There is strength in numbers! This is not something one would ever wish to confront. One of our design team members noticed the obvious infringements and could not contain herself, knowing how badly it can damage us and others in this industry who work very hard to maintain our brands. I can't thank her enough for being a true friend, for being vigilant and for trying to right a wrong. Another amazing friend at Scrapbook & Cards Today reached out to her fan base as well, along with Scrapbook Expo, Scrapbook Update and many, many others. I am so touched by these and countless acts of support that have sustained us.
I want you all to know that I have been in contact today with the owner of the company that has been selling our designs. She has expressed regret and has shown a desire to try to make things right by removing all of our designs and committing to discontinue selling them. She has begun to remove them already. This is a step in the right direction and I thank her for reaching out to me.
We sincerely hope that her steps to correct things will help resolve this matter and we will work in good faith to ensure that she follows through.
Let me close by telling you how much love I feel for all of you. I am in awe and feel humbled and proud to call you my friends. Thank you, thank you, thank you - each and every one.
With love and gratitude -
Cynthea Sandoval Owner & Creative Director

Is there a link to the other companies' page? I'm just seeing Doodlebug's FB page. ETA: Nevermind, my laptop must be dying, it took forever to scroll down and see the post.

What a lame thing to do. And why? It doesn't even sound enjoyable to copy someone!
Some of Doodlebugs images are very generic, I think the real copying is the combination and color selections.
Copying is lame and wrong!

this showed up in a Fb group I'm in. I googled the woman and found her LinkedIn page. She was a graphic artist for Hallmark. I don't believe she didn't know she was plagiarizing someone's work.

There have been a few blatant examples of this in the scrapbooking industry. I'm sure it is just the ability to copy in the digital age but it sometimes feels like people don't respect design/artists in this industry.

There is a SC DT member who designs products for SC who has done this several times, in fact she caused one company to go under because of it. Didn't stop her though, she did it again when shilling art for SC and designing. Items for their kits. It is shameful, but happens a lot I think.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this newest copy of Doodlebug. I can't believe she still designs for SC!

Trouble is that these posts will actually bring her most customers. I followed the link to see what the fuss was about. And see that she has done nice designs that are in a similar style to doodlebug....but not doodlebug as far as I know. If I liked the style I would have now found a new clip art supplier.

I was thinking that too. The stuff she had obviously copied has already been removed. It was VERY much like Doodlebug, close enough like it to be confusing. I couldn't believe Doodlebug didn't blur out her site name on the screen shots they posted on their Facebook page.
