where someone was wearing the same thing as you?
Watching a wedding show, and it got me curious.
I've never found anyone wearing the same thing, but I'm surprised I've never seen anyone matching someone else.

I wore a dress to a wedding one time that was the exact same style as the bridesmaid dresses, but in a different color. They were sort of a business casual type of dress with a soft jacket, a common brand in places like Macy's.
Awkward!

It hasn't happened to me but it did happen to DD. She ordered her dress from an online site (I don't recall which one) that does not have a brick and mortar store and someone was wearing the same dress in the same color as her. She is confident enough to feel she looked better in the dress. Lol.

Yes, at a wedding. The other person had good taste.

I went to a club once wearing an Ann Taylor dress, so I felt too formal for the evening. But sure enough saw someone else wearing it and felt ok in it. I think at a party the best thing to do is to walk over smile and say you have excellent taste and say you love how she styled the dress with the accessories she picked.

No, but it wouldn't bother me. I would be happy that I got something in style! With three kids, all my money goes to them, so I don't have any "cool" clothes.

Not a wedding or shower, but in grad school there was a guy in our lab who had the exact same shirt I did, and another colleague who had one really similar, and we'd co-ordinate who wore the shirt on which days because it was too awkward being matching.
The same thing happened in high school; two senior guys and I had the exact same shirt, so we'd wait to see who wore it first in the week and then one of us would wear it another day.
I just realized that I apparently wear the same shirts as guys. Hmm.

I went to my 20th high school reunion and had shopped for awhile before I found the perfect dress and jacket. I was very dressed up and feeling very confident When we got there one of my best friends had on an almost identical dress and jacket. The buttons on her jacket were gold the ones on mine were covered in matching fabric. About the only difference was that she had on black heels and mine were royal blue to match the dress. The funny thing is that her DH and mine were friends from way back. They started first grade together so we sat with them all night too

Almost. I was going to a shower with my SIL. We met for lunch and walked up wearing the same (very noticeable) skirt. It was AWKWARD! I came home and changed before we went to the shower. She didn't offer to change, and made me feel like it was my fault. Ugh.
We attended a wedding recently that required a nice dress. I had wanted to avoid black, and really liked a particular dress. I decided not to get it because it was taupe. I thought it might look too MOG. Guess who wore that dress? Saved by the old rule!

I recently bought two new shirts identical to two my sister has. We had no idea each other bought them.

Mothers Day a couple of years ago. I bought a really cute dress at a really small out of the way store. Sure enough I walk into church and another gal is wearing the exact same dress.......and the same purse I wore it better

I just went to a wedding last weekend where just about every girl, including me, was wearing a navy blue dress. Two years ago I went to a wedding where two girls wore the same dress.

No but I came really close to it.
My son got married last month. I waited until about a month before the wedding to dress shop. My mom wanted me to help her with her dress too.
I went to Nordestrom and made an appointment with a personal assistant. She was awesome! It made the process go smoothly and enjoyable. I don't love shopping, I don't have daughters and it was a busy time of year so I didn't feel like I had friends who would want to go. I needed input and perspective so I remembered hearing about this free service.
I tried on aout 10 dresses that day. One dress looked great on my top half but was shorter than I like to go. So while I loved the dress I didn't want to be uncomfortable the whole night. I snapped a quick picture of part of it but knew unless it came in a longer version I wasn't going with it. My stylist called to see if it came longer.
I ended up finding a dress before I left and loved it! They had to shop it from CA to my house and than I had to get it altered.
When I arrived at the wedding I still had on comfy clothes as it was an hour before pictures and I was waiting a bit to fully get dressed. Everyone else was pretty much doing the same.
Everyone is getting changed and getting ready for pictures and I see that dress and it was on my XDH wife. LOL
She has much better legs than I do!
I told her about it and we had a good laugh.
We had never asked one another what the other was wearing and that never crossed our minds. We had a family dinner about a month before at my sons college graduation dinner we had the night before they graduated but I didn't even have my dress yet.

My mom, mother-in-law, and one guest all wore the same shoes to my wedding.

Twice that I can recall. I had a dress in the 80's that was black and red plaid with big black buttons down the back and the neck was lower cut in the front. I always wear my clothes with the tag in the back which was in the back with the buttons. I was at a direct sales conference and walked into an event and there was a lady with the same exact dress, but the buttons were in the front! SHE had it on backwards!
Another time my sister met me for lunch at work and I arrive in the cafeteria and we are wearing the same outfit. That was one in a million because we normally don't have the same taste in clothing.

Yes, to a wedding. It was a green suit with a skirt. I wore it open with a black camisole and a chunky necklace she had it buttoned up like a suit. I walked up to her at the reception and complimented her on her good taste.
It was a suit from Ross Dress for Less that was under $20 but looked much more expensive neither of us commented on that.

Senior Prom and 2oth HS Reunion. Almost to a pool party with a co-worker. Luckily we realized the day before we had bought the same bathing suit. 31 years later we still laugh about it.

My husband was a stage director at a high school when we were dating. I arranged to go see the musical , and bought a new dress. The director of the play wore the exact same dress. I saw that and immediately found my seat and probably looked antisocial. I just didn't want to embarrass her

Snorkeling in Punta Cana...woman with the exact same swim suit as I had. Two weeks ago, at our East Coast award ceremony, two women from different areas of the state showed up for the business formal in the same bright yellow suit. Today, my assistant and I had the exact same shoes on. Funnier yet, we both had brought a second pair of shoes to change in to, because we both found them uncomfortable. What did we bring for the change? Almost identical black strappy sandals.

It happened once to me at a sorority date party. We laughed it off and took some cute photos. A friend went to a wedding once and wore a dress she had worn at another wedding as a bridesmaid. Imagine her horror to find the bridesmaids in that wedding wearing the same dress! She tried to be inconspicuous at church and then scurried home to change before the reception. Now doesn't that make all of us who kept bridesmaid dresses, swearing to wear them again but never actually doing it, feel a lot better?

No but my sister and I have similar taste and when we go shopping together we will often buy the same clothes, usually in different colors but not always. So when she is in town we have to discuss outfits so we don't wear the same thing. If we plan the same outfit, it's on me to change because she only packs a few clothes.
